Tommy stayed sitting on the edge of rock, he wasn't supposed to be sitting down on a dirty area as his "lovely" mother would remind him every time he would try to leave the house however he was being forced to wear a dress so it became a goal to get a little dirty.

Don't get him wrong the dress was cute, it was a pastel pink with white ruffles on the sleeve and bottom and if he saw it on a girl he would think she looked beautiful; not himself though.

His mother was determined though to get him to "act his gender" but Tommy was a boy. He hated the name Tammy, he hated when anyone would say she or her to refer to him, and he hated wearing dresses.

It made him want to cry most of the time, he loved seeing himself in simple khaki shorts with a red baseball tee though; Tommy could forgive the long hair, he had seen plenty men with long hair and they all look amazing but he couldn't help but enjoy the short fluffy hair style more.

He had seen boys outside with that hair and it made him giddy with happiness anytime he thought about himself with that kinda hair.

Maybe one day.

With the boy zoning out he didn't notice another small child walking towards him with a big bright smile on their face.

"Hello!" The dark haired kid said loudly.

Tommy was snapped out of his thoughts and looked back at the other child. They had long raven hair that was tied up neatly into pigtails with red ribbons and a overalls dress with a yellow shirt underneath.

"You're a pretty girl!" The raven said practically shinning with joy.

Tommy couldn't help but get slightly frustrated, "I'm a boy, thank you very much!"

He watched as the other child's eyes practically lit up, "wait really!? I'm a boy too!"

Tommy froze for a moment. Was this kid seriously a guy? Was he no longer alone on looking like a girl but being a guy?

"I'm transgender!" The raven boy announced proudly.

Tommy looked up at the boy with a curious face, "what's transgender?" He asked shyly

"It's when you're not the gender you were born as! My big sister told me all about this when I told her I didn't like being a girl!" The nameless boy explained; Tommy just couldn't believe it, there was someone else out there like him. Someone who was transgender.

Tommy smiled back at the other boy, "what's your name?"

"Well my birth name is Shelly Winfield but I go by Shroud now." The told as he began to sit down next to Tommy.

"What's yours?" Shroud asked sweetly

"Tammy but I'd rather you call me Tommy." The blonde explained.

Shroud only nodded, bubbling with excitement. Tommy couldn't help but feel that he had just met his best friend, his platonic soulmate.

Oh only if he knew.

Tommy and Shroud walked around in the forest talking about random things.

Tommy had learned that Shroud's parents also didn't like him being transgender, he loved the color purple, and was absolutely in love with spiders.

The boy was so kind and radiated confidence, Tommy couldn't help but slightly admire the boy for that. The blonde wanted to be like Shroud so badly; maybe one day.
