Tomioka dashed towards the village, reaching it in a matter of minutes. He walked up the wall, having the ability to walk anywhere without struggle. For all he knew, he could probably walk on water.
He jumped over the rooftops, looking down at the busy area. The night markets were bustling with people, and just looking at them made his mouth water slightly. He leaped off of the roof, landing in a dark alley. He heard voices behind him, so he turned to see a gang harassing a woman.
"Come on, doll, just give us ya money and we'll be on out way, eh?"
"N-No! Leave me alone! M-My kids need f-food!"
"That's too bad. Come here ya little-"
"Hey."
The gang turned to see Tomioka standing there, cast in shadows so they couldn't see his form. Note to develop a human disguise later... Giyu thought, scanning them quickly.
"Ay, go away! This is our turf!" one of the thieves said, hitting a glass bottle on his hand, trying to signal that he should beat it.
"No, I don't think I will." Tomioka said, his gaze darkening. "Why you-" the one holding the bottle rushed over and wacked Giyu on the head, dealing a blow that would kill a human. Tomioka slumped to the ground, pretending to be dead. He heard a shriek of despair from the woman as the thieves rejoiced.
"Fucking idiot... Sticking his nose where it didn't belong."
With those words, Tomioka's eyes snapped open. He practically leaped to his feet, his head injuries already healed. The thieves were facing away from him, but the woman noticed and let out a cry of surprise. The robbers turned towards him, their eyes widening. "W-What the hell?! This isn't possible!" one of them said, their already bulging eyes popping out more.
With a screech, Giyu ran up the wall beside them at a lightning speed, ripping off the head of the one who killed him quickly. The woman shrieked as some of the blood landed on her face. Tomioka saw the blood and growled slightly, leaping onto her. She screamed and thrashed in his arms, and he watched for a moment, amused. His hand swung for her eyes, gouging them out within seconds. He slit her neck open and removed her vocal cords, annoyed of listening to her scream. Tomioka ate the vocal cords, then turned to the robbers.
"What kind of cannibal bullshit is this?!" the leader screamed, seeing Giyu properly for the first time. His eyes widened in horror as he saw Tomioka's horns and numbered eyes.
"I am no cannibal. In fact, I'm a complete different species to this pathetic woman." Tomioka said, holding up the head of his first victim. The robbers let out cries of disbelief as he ate it in front of them. "Huh, tastes like bitch."
Giyu snarled, jumping onto the one with bulging eyes and ripping out his heart, devouring it instantly. He then turned to the leader, leaping onto him and pinning him to the floor.
"P-Please, spare me! I-I won't rob people anymore, p-promise!" he pleaded, pure panic filling his gaze.
"I know you're lying, but I don't care about that stuff anyways. You can go." Giyu said, standing up and moving away from him. The robber mumbled an almost unrecognizable 'thank you' and ran away. Just before he left the alley, a spear impaled his neck. He fell as he choked on his own blood and looked at Tomioka, betrayed. Then, the robber's eyes went dull and his body went limp.
Giyu smoothed out his haori, pulling his spear from the robber's neck. "So that's part of my Blood Demon Art, manipulating water." he said absentmindedly, watching the spear transform into liquid and fall to the floor.
Tomioka dragged the bodies to the rooftops, deciding to feast on them there. It took him only a few moments to finish the meal, and he saw a slight hint of orange on the horizon. Better find a place to settle for the night... he thought with a sigh, leaping off the rooftop. He dashed across the road to a clothing store, choosing a light blue furisode with water-like patterns at the bottom. He exited the store with no intention of purchasing the item.
He found an inn called 'One-Night Inn' that had a small sign on the door saying: 'This is a special kind of inn that allows you to stay one night free!'
It was very beneficial for Tomioka, so he walked in, grabbed a key and hid from the sunrise.
The sun was setting, and Giyu was standing at the door of the inn, waiting.
"Are you not going to stay for dinner?"
Giyu turned to see an older woman, holding a bowl of rice. "I have no intention of staying after the sun goes down..." he said, making sure to keep his eyes hidden.
"Please, do eat!" the woman insisted, presenting the rice in her hands. "Our chef is very talented!"
Giyu had an idea, and he plastered on a fake smile. "I suppose I could stay for a bite..."
"That's wonderful-"
The woman suddenly felt her feet leave the floor, and she looked up to see Giyu, his demon form fully revealed. She screamed, tears pouring from her grey eyes.
"I sense you have marechi blood..." Giyu looked her up and down. "You'll be a great meal to me."
Giyu ripped off the woman's head, her precious marechi blood spilling all over his hands. Giyu returned to solid ground, absorbing the woman into him. He felt the power flooding through his veins, and he smiled.
Tomioka turned to see outside, noticing that the sun had fully set. Quickly, he dashed out of the building, leaving the village's outer walls in a split second.
Now, I just need a territory, he thought, wandering around the village's exterior. This village is filled to the brim with humans, and marechi blood. Maybe...
Giyu ran around the village's wall, until he spotted a path leading into the woods. As he followed the path more, he saw a lake with a bridge over it, and a well placed in the center. Now that Giyu had found water, it was time for his experiment.
Tomioka leaped into the water, bubbles fizzing around him. Under the water, Giyu felt... Powerful. He felt his body change, and he felt the power surge through his veins.
His nails were suddenly even longer, and were a dark blue colour that could easily be mistaken for black. Long, twisting horns appeared on his head, with blue tips that matched his eyes. He took the ponytail out of his hair, feeling relief. Tomioka also noticed that the tips of his hair were now bright blue.
"ᵀʰⁱˢ ᵐᵘˢᵗ ᵇᵉ ᵐʸ ᶠᵘˡˡ ᶠᵒʳᵐ..." Giyu said. He noticed how his voice sounded more distant when he spoke underwater. [READS: This must be my full form...]
Experimentally, Tomioka touched the sides of his neck. His theory was confirmed; He had gills. The gills blended into his neck, so they were barely noticeable, but they were still there nonetheless.
Strangely enough, Tomioka also had a tail that resembled that of a serpent's. It was long, and a dark blue colour, covered in the same patterns that covered his face. The patterns seemed to give off a slight glow, illuminating the water around him.
"ᵂᵉˡˡ, ᵗʰⁱˢ ⁱˢ ᵃ ˡᵒᵛᵉˡʸ ᶠᵘˡˡ ᶠᵒʳᵐ ᵗᵒ ʰᵃᵛᵉ." Tomioka said, doing an experimental circle in the water. [READS: Well, this is a lovely full form to have.]
Tomioka noticed that his speed underwater was much greater then when he was on land, which made sense.
Guess I should just kill whatever humans come to the lake, he thought. I wonder is many humans swim in here? It's not connected to any rivers or oceans, so nothing dangerous could get in. Except me, of course.
And with that, his plan was decided; Kill whoever came to the well, or whoever came for a quick swim. With the village, he'd hit the jackpot. Many people there had the rare marechi blood, and it was being passed down from generation to generation.
"ᵀʰⁱˢ ʷⁱˡˡ ᵇᵉ ᵗʰᵉ ˢᵗᵃʳᵗ ᵒᶠ ˢᵒᵐᵉᵗʰⁱⁿᵍ ᵍʳᵉᵃᵗ..."
