Chapter 1~ Camp Crystal Lake (Day 1)

'I can't believe I'm being sent to this place' I thought as I looked out the window of the white and green school bus. Pine trees and wooded land were the only thing to be seen as the bus bumped and sped along a gravel dirt road. Dark green letters boldly spell 'CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE' along either side of the rusted vehicle. Inside was even worse, with moth eaten leather seats and rusted metal floors. Pretty sure a tetanus shot would be needed if a kid fell on this death trap. Speaking of kids, I rolled my eyes at the sight of all of them running and screaming. Throwing paper airplanes and spitballs at one another in boisterous youth. It was tough being the only sensical 15 year old on the bus, probably because I was a couple years older than everyone. The youngest looked no older than a 10 and after me they all were 12 or 13.

"Look alive kids! We've arrived to a magical place where you can fuck off!" announced the bus driver as he pulled up to the campsite. "Get out! And if you forget anything it's mine!"

With that cheerful farewell, everyone and myself hopped off the bus as fast as possible double checking that no personal belongings were left behind. I checked both hands making sure I had my duffle bag with all my clothes and hygenes and satchel, which carried my journals and pencils. I had a hobby of learning about plants and insects, it was fun to study them and draw them as realistic as possible. I even pressed flowers and plants to preserve them in my journals. One for flowers, another for edibles: mushrooms, vegetables and fruits, and lastly birds and insects. I even packed my mp3 player with extra batteries so I could drown out the noise of kids with music.

After confirming I had all my items I looked around my new home for the next two and half months. I was waiting with the other kids, expecting to see some type of authoritative figure or counselor appear and give us directions but no one came to greet us. 'Great. A camp that just screams you're on your own' I didn't mind of course, but these reckless kids made me anxious about their safety and my own. In any case, after about a half an hour everyone dispersed into groups and called dibs on their cabins. A group of bullies or 'cool kids', the pretty girls, the not so pretty girls, nerds and emos. The cabins faced the center announcement pole, where I stood.

I waited patiently, watching who went where and realized all the center cabins were taken. The bullies got the north cabin called bears, pretty girls got the east called swans, the not so pretty girls took the south east called badgers, the nerds to the south west called eagles and the emos took the west cabin called the possums. All were filled and I had no intentions of bunking with anyone in this hell hole. Well, the nature part wasn't so bad. The sun began to set, casting an orange glow over the trees and lake that surrounded us. With a sigh, I clenched my bags tighter and went exploring for a cabin to call my own. I walked towards the dining hall and there just tucked away behind it and hidden in the trees was a perfect place for me to settle down in.

The door opened with a creak and I was greeted by the smell of pine and 'apple pie?'. I walked further in, setting my bags at my feet and looked around for some type of light source. Just to the left of me hanging on the wall was an oil lamp. So this was an older cabin, probably from when this camp was first built, seeing how all the other cabins were powered by electricity. I turned my attention back to the room and jumped out of my skin. There was a boy sitting on the bed in the right corner of the room. He wore a hood and kept his head down so it was impossible for me to see his face.

"H-hello? I'm (y/n). I hope you don't mind if I bunk with you, all the other cabins are filled," I greeted politely. It was awkward not getting a response but I shrugged it off and took to the left corner. The beds were elevated and each had a desk underneath. I placed my journals neatly on the desk and my pencils in an old ceramic mug lying there. The place was surprisingly clean with little to no dust. I expected to be suffocated by a cloud of dust and roaches but this was as if someone's parents cleaned up. My clothes went into the drawers on the side of the bed where a ladder to climb into bed was found.
