As soon as the quartet stepped through the book/portal. Annabeth knew something was very wrong.
Weather if it was from the twin's shocked expressions or from the scorching ruins of the forest in front of her.
"What happed?" Alex whispered so softly Annabeth had to strain to hear her.
"I don't know" Conner answered just as softly, putting a comforting arm around Alex's shoulders.
Annabeth looked over at Percy, sure that she would see a mask of calm but swirling anger in his eyes.
Sure, enough Percy had a mask of pure calm but his eyes, his eyes had a swirling storm of sea. Ready to swallow and drown anyone who dared mess with his friends and family.
Percy, and admittedly herself had grown close to the twins the short time they had known them. The Baileys reminded them of themselves even though they were just two years older than them.
Suddenly, Percy pointed at a trail of orderly footprints. "Let's follow them" Percy said still a mask of calm on his face.
The Baileys and Annabeth followed him as Percy cautiously followed the footsteps careful not to make a single sound. Alex had calmed down enough to cast a spell to make them quiet while stumbling through the bramble and bushes.
The group of four followed the trail until they saw a bunch of soldiers marching in an orderly fashion.
And surprisingly they were all shaped like cards, Annabeth noticed that they seemed almost bored as if not expecting an attack.
With a questioning look at Alex, her silent question was answered.
"They're the Queen of Hearts' minions."
Without another word. Annabeth felt a sure of anger at the soldiers. Percabeth glanced at each other and without another sound leapt at the cards.
They sliced and diced but surprisingly only words came out of the wounds. Not blood or even the gold dust of monsters.
The twins looked on in amazement. They had never truly seen their friends in a fight against the enemy. Only a few friendly spars
"Let's go" Annabeth said and they walked toward the direction of the ruined castle.

Meanwhile at Morinas House

"I need to stop the Bailey girl" Morina voiced her thoughts out loud as she paced the narrow length of her house...
The other witches had banished her believing she was incompetent after she had failed to dose Alex with the magic dust.
She started picking up and putting down bottles on her shelf.
"Hmmmm, this might work" She pondered out loud.
Morina was looking at a clear bottle with white dust inside that would make a person or whoever lose their abilities for a little over a month.
She would show the witches. Morina let out a cackle that sent shivers down spines.
Oh, she would get revenge...

Nico was sparring with Will, when a Rook ran up to them. The day before the strategy team had decided their best bet to lower the defenses was to rescue the prisoners stuck in the hollowed-out swan lake.
"There was a patrol of card soldiers and they suddenly disappeared. Everyone's in a panic! This would be the time to strike!"
Nico had a vague suspicion about who took out the card soldiers. But Rook was right. This would be Perfectamuno.
So, he, Will, The knights of the round table. Headed out of the sanctuary of the cave.
The headed toward the castle silent as they saw the forest had been burned down. And the cave they stayed at before was exposed to the naked eye.
The stuck close to the ground and made it safely to the castle. Little did they know. They had perfectly missed the Baileys and Percabeth.
Nico snuck in first using his power overshadows to silents creep closer and saw the villagers in the empty swan lake.
The knights quietly took out the card soldiers guarding the lake while Will picked them off from a tree high above.
Nico turned visible to the eyes. "Come on! Come On!" he whisper yelled
The villagers looked so surprised that in a different situation if would've been funny. But this was not the time.
They helped the towns people climb out and raced into the forest and a furious roar, actually roars echoed behind them...
