I grunted in my pillow at the disturbing thoughts haunting my mind and sighed when gave up fighting them to steal a glimpse of sleep.
I
peeked between my fingers covering my eyes to glance at the clock to see that it was at least one in the morning. I let out a sigh and sat up on the couch.
I had to gather some sleep, for the next further days my attention would have to be sharp, as soon as the Order replied I would have to be cautelous about my actions depending on their response and that would become surely harder if I was in need of sleep.
I hated what came to my mind but I couldn’t think of anything else with so much stuff harassing my mind. I would take some Sleeping Draught or some Dreamless Sleep Potion, whatever I could find here.
I stood up from the bed and made my way to the kitchen, surely there would be something in the cabinets or some shelve.
I searched the bottom cabinets first. The first two had mostly some packages of food still waiting to be open. And all the others were cans of food, sacks of bread, rice, pasta. I groaned in frustration and stood from where I kneeled to search the top cabinets.
The first cabinet I opened had some coffee and honey, I watched Malfoy open this cabinet many times when making coffee for us but I wanted to search it nonetheless. I let out an exasperated sigh when the other two had only glasses and packages of milk or drinks still waiting to be opened.
I rubbed a hand on my face and leaned on the kitchen sink.
Merlin how I hate to be stuck in here.
I glanced at the window, the thundering had calmed down a bit for the last hour, but it was replaced for the violent howls of the wind that crawled up your spine as if you were out in the cold.
My gaze drifted absently to Malfoy’s bedroom door. A closed door, obviously. Surely, he would have some Sleeping Draught in hi bathroom, actually I thought I recalled seeing some behind that mirror-cabinet above the sink.
I shook my head, even though Malfoy told me I was free to walk into his room even in the night should I need to use the bathroom, that didn’t mean I would actually do it. I was most definitely not in the mood to have a chat with him on why do I need a Sleeping Draught, I would prefer to die rather than tell him the dreams and nightmares that haunt my mind as if it was a target.
Weeks ago, I would have been sure I would go in and out without waking him up, but now…now he seems to know way more than I’m aware off and I needed to play it more careful from now on. Sneaking into his bedroom at night, was not a way to accomplish that.
I grunted into my hands, and when I turned to go back to the couch feeling defeated by my own mind, I caught a glimpse of Malfoy’s potion table.
I stared at it until I heard that little voice in my mind telling me that this was foolish. But no voice came and seconds later I found myself peering down at the table displaying a caldron, different potions, ingredients.
My skin shivered when I recalled what Malfoy used this table for, the removal of his Mark. My eyes briefly met my arm, but I quickly snatched it away before other sort of thoughts disturbed my mind.
I exhaled a breath and eyed the table warily, I looked for some Dreamless Sleep Potion, but most potions here were only the ingredients to make one and the others were no business regarding me.
I searched the whole table and gathered ingredients for both the Sleeping Draught and a Dreamless Sleep Potion. I searched the little cabinet underneath the table as well and organized everything in a corner of the table near the cauldron.
