I woke up startled with a bunch of noise in the room. I opened my eyes in an apex, my hand searching for my wand as I let my gaze roam the living room.

Malfoy was pacing through the room as he dressed up his jacket, the way he looked was what worried me. He was beyond concerned; his eyes opened wide in shock.

I immediately stood up from the couch, I got a bit dizzy from the abrupt motion right after I had woken up but completely ignored it as I came to face Malfoy.

I stood in front of him, halting his pace. “What happened?” I inquired concernedly.

He let out a long breath of exhaustion and I could see a storm of emotions gathering up at his gaze. “The village.” He struggled. “Vol- You-Know-Who’s real name became a taboo again.” He blurted out.

My eyes widened but I focused myself on the first word he slipped out. “You mentioned the village, what does that have to do with Vold- You-Know-Who’s real name become a taboo again?” I inquired urgently.

His concerned gaze turned into sorrow, and for moments, his features turned apologetic and I felt my heart tighten at that. He stepped closer to me and grabbed both my arms, as if holding my place, preventing me from falling.

“The Prophets didn’t mention anything about You-Know-Who’s name, nobody knew it had become a taboo, and as he is one of the many conversations in the village, it didn’t take long until one of them said his name and a lot of Death Eaters attacked them.” Malfoy said sorrowfully.

I felt my knees buckle beneath my weight; I was only standing because of Malfoy’s hand at that point. “The village was attacked?” I asked, even though it was more than confirmed, I still didn’t want it to be real.

He nodded helplessly.

My face went blank of emotions, I wasn’t thinking nor feeling anything, I was at a loss. I never wanted this to happen, they didn’t deserve it.

“I heard they are still fighting them while other’s try to run away, I need to go and help.”

My head snapped up when something flashed across my mind. “The kids.” I blurted out. “Are they safe? Did they run away in time?”

Malfoy’s apologetic face broke me. “I don’t know, Edens. I need to go there and help them fight the Death Eaters to know more.”

I could feel a very odd and uncomfortable feeling tug at the back of my mind, my walls had all crushed down and some emotions I had buried away were resurfacing, the emotion looked as if it tasted like iron on my tongue, was it…sadness, sorrow. I didn’t know, I only had one thing clear in my mind.

“I want to go with you.” I demanded.

Malfoy shook his head. “No way, it’s too dangerous- “

“I didn’t ask for your consent.” I snapped furiously. “I’m going with you.” I stated.

“Edens, wait!” Malfoy shouted.

I ignored him as I pulled out my wand and transfigured my pajamas into clothes fit to battle. I planned on ignoring his further protests but a sharp and burning pain in my left arm stopped my motions and I froze to the ground.

My mark. I was being called.

Suddenly Malfoy’s voice was completely muffled by my despair, this couldn’t be it, not now, I needed…the village, the kids. I couldn’t go now, I couldn’t take Malfoy now, we needed to save the people, but-

I was being called. I needed to go to the Ministry, this was it.

I glanced at Malfoy, at the concerned and infuriated gaze of his when I was stubborn. Of how he would never leave me and would always come back.
