Jude's Perspective: Pain surges through my body when I regain consciousness. I open my eyes and the fluorescent lights cause me to shut them tightly for a moment. Once I'm accustomed to the brightness, I look up, down, and around for familiar surroundings, but it's all new to me.
"He's awake." Says the nurse to my right. His voice is deep like an ocean, yet gentle like a lake. He looks at me comfortingly and says, "Hey, buddy. There are a few people out there dying to visit you. Do you think you'll be ready to to see them soon?" I nod slowly and say, "My family and my boyfriend Connor." I don't bother with manners, I need to see them.
The nurse sighs, "Unfortunately, we're only able to bring in immediate family at the moment. You'll get to see your boyfriend soon." I notice he has a very casual reaction to the fact that I have a boyfriend. "Okay." I say so quietly in practically whispering. The nurse leaves the room.
A few minutes later, my family rushes in with Callie at the front. Her eyes are puffy and red just like everyone else's. She runs over to my bed and gives me a hug, being careful to avoid the bullet wound. Mariana, Jesus, Brandon, and moms hug me right after. I feel like I'm actually a part of the family, not just the new foster kid. I have been staying with them for a few months, and even Callie started treating them like family.
After a few minutes of catching up, Stef clears her throat, and we all look up at her. "So," she starts, "your mama and I have been talking, and we've decided to adopt Jude and Callie, but only if it's okay with them." Excitement flows through me, and I begin crying of happiness. A misty-eyed Callie locks eyes with me and I nod in a silent agreement.
"Yeah!" She exclaims in a giggly voice. Everyone cheers and more hugs go around.
"So as soon as we have your biological father sign the papers, well, you'll be Jude and Callie Adams-Foster!" Says Lena, also crying.
I couldn't believe it. My dreams are coming true. I'm going to be part of a family.
Sorry there's no actual Jonnor in this chapter, but it had to be done. I promise you'll see more of them next chapter!
