I woke up this morning and it was nice and sunny. I felt a lot more confident now that I got everything out yesterday. It finally felt like I got closure for China. Everything was going well until my mom came in the room to tell me the verdict. Because we had left court early I didn’t get to hear it.
“Honey?” she said calmly.
“Yes?”
“He was found not guilty. I’m sorry.”
After my mom walked out, my heart instantly dropped in too my stomach. I kind of figured this would happen. I kind of figured the system would let him get away with it. It happens all the time. They made it seem like he was the victim because she didn’t tell him that she was a man. I guess I got to be careful around here since the system doesn’t protect you.
