Chapter 38

*Stephanie's POV*

"Great, I'll be down in a minute," I told my friend who was waiting downstairs. I couldn't wait to go to the movies with him. I haven't gone on a date in forever, even when I went out with Kevin, he never took me anywhere since he was always busy.

I closed the phone after he said his goodbye and looked at myself in my tall mirror. I was wearing black skinny jeans, a loose collared teal blouse, and short black wedges. My hair was up in a somewhat messy bun. I looked like I was going to the club even though it was just a typical date to the movies, but I had to impress the guy. I smiled and applied a bit of lipgloss, grabbed my bag and headed out my room door.

I went downstairs and saw Niall sitting on the couch. The tv wasn't on. "Hey," I said walking up to him, I'm guessing he wasn't aware of me coming down the stairs causing my voice to startle him. I laughed at his dramatic panting and hand on his chest.

He turned around and smiled, "You look beautiful," he eyed me up and down.

I felt myself blush, I mean, I blush constantly, so this was nothing, "Thank you very much." I gave him a slight smile and walked towards the door backwards, "Well, I'm leaving now."

He jumped off the couch, "Wait!" I stopped at his sudden command, my hand stayed on the doorknob. "What?" I asked at his worn out face. His eyes were drooping and he looked like he was crying or about to cry. What the hell happened while I was getting ready?

He stopped a few feet away from me, "Stephanie, I have something to tell you." I raised an eyebrow. His hands were now fidgeting and roaming everywhere around his hair. He would always do this when he was nervous, ever since he was little as well. I remember when he was auditioning for The X Factor and his hands were touching his hair constantly, his worries were taking over and he was playing the confident guy. After he knew he made it, he came home and we talked about how cocky he was, he said that he was actually shitting himself because he was that nervous. I snapped out of my thoughts as I see Niall move his hand to his hair again and started to speak. Why was he nervous?

"We've been friends since forever, right?" I nodded slowly at his odd question. Why in the world would he ask me that?

He took a step forward and smiled softly, "Well, you've always been there for me, you laugh at my jokes, you make me smile at rough times...you make me feel. Great," his smile died down as he noticed my confusion.

I was really confused that's for sure. I crossed my arms, "Niall, what are you saying?"

He sighed loudly and took a step forward, "I'm saying that I love who you are and I love when you're around me," his eyes traveled from the floor and landed on me.

"Stephanie, I-I love you." My eyes got wide at those words. I didn't know what to say. I felt my mouth a bit open and snapped it shut. "Steph, say something," Niall added, taking a step foward, now we were incredibly close.

I didn't have the guts to look at him as well, my eyes now looking somewhere to the side, "Niall, I have to-"

"You have to what?" He asked moving a strand of my hair behind my ear.

I backed away, "I'm sorry Niall, I have to go," I opened the front door and shut it behind me. I hurried to my friends car who looked impatient.

"What took so long?" He asked as I got in the passenger seat and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

I closed the car door, "Nothing, I was doing something." He raised an eyebrow and started the car, driving into the busy streets.

I was confused and mad that Niall had told me this. Why didn't he tell me this a while ago? The fucking bastard. I wiped some forming tears from my eyes. I didn't know what to respond to him, I didn't know how to feel. I don't know what I'm going to tell him.

*A/N: Lawd, I noticed I hit 5k reads so I decided to write this as soon as possible just cause I'm excited as fuck. I know this is really short and I'm sorry for that. I'll start writing quicker just so I can continue planning and editing my Larry fanfic which is coming soon by the way :)
