When Valentine Davenport was just 11 years oldshe was woken up early on a Saturday morning to an annoying tapping coming from her window.

Her first thought was that it was James Potter. Her best friend, but thought was quickly crossed off when she remembered that James Potter would just floo inside the cottage unannounced and then make himself known.

When she looked up and saw that an owl was hovering outside with a letter attached to it's leg. Instantly realising what it could be, she rushed out of bed and opened the window, letting the unfamiliar owl inside to drop the letter.

The red wax seal heavily contrasted against the light colour of the parchment and the 'H' said everything that needed to be said.

Her Hogwarts letter had arrived.

"Mum! Dad!" Valentine shouted, running into her parents room just next to hers. Her excitement made her jump up onto their bed and wake them up.

"What's going on? Did someone die?" Her father, Max, asked groggily.

"No! I got my letter! I got my letter!" She put the letter up to his face.

"I have no idea what the letter is for but yay" He matched her excitement despite having no idea.

"It's my Hogwarts letter! I'm going to Hogwarts" She contiued to jump up and down, now waking up her mum.

"Did someone say Hogwarts?" Claudia asked.

"Yes my letter has arrived. I'm finally going to Hogwarts!" Her smiled was one that her parents had never seen before.

Claudia immediantly squealed and brought her eldest daughter into a hug.

Claudia was a witch. She attended Hogwarts in her younger years, where she met Euphemia and Fleamont and became best friends with them.

Max was a muggle, who owned a small bakery in muggle London where Claudia went to everyday before she went to work as a Healer in St Mungos.

After a few months, he finally got the courage to ask her out on a date and things went forward from there.

Eventually he found out she was a witch and got married and moved into a cottage, a place that Claudia had always wanted to live in a cottage and Max was more than happy to find one for her.

"I'm so happy for you" Claudia still held on tightly to her daughter. She knew how much Valentine wished to go to the same school as her Mum.

"Why is everyone shouting?" A small voice asked from the doorway. The two adults and 11 yr old turned their heads towards the five year old who was rubbing her eyes.

"Hi Macey" Claudia opened up her arms so she could sit with them too. Macey accepted the invitation and sat down on the bed alongside her older sister.

"Your hair is yellow" Macey observed holding a strand of Valentines hair.

"That means shes happy" Max said before lowering his voice and speaking to his wife "Did I get that right?"

"Yes. Yes you did" Claudia smiled before giving a kiss to her husband.

Both Macey and Valentine both fake gagged and then started to giggle.

"Oh you think that's funny do you?" Max asked and then started to tickle Valentine and Claudia did the same to Macey.

"You won't be laughing when you two gets boyfriends and are acting all lovey dovey with them"

Macey face turned into one of disgust "No boys are yucky"

"I won't have time for boys anyways, i'm gonna be focusing on my school work. No one gets as smart as me by not focusing" Valentines face also scrunched up in disgust thinking of having a boyfriend.

"Oh you weren't saying that when you saw that boy at the bookshop" Max recalled and made his voice high pitched "Dad I met this cute boy at the bookshop. He was so cute and gave me recommendations to read"

Macey became amused when Valentines hair turned  pink. As a five year old and having a metamorphmagus for an older sister, she was never short of amusement.

"Oh yes, I remember Valentines little crush on that boy. You never did get his name did you?" Claudia asked.

"No because I did not have a crush" Valentine rolled her eyes "I had one simple conversation with him"

"No no I definitely remember you saying that you had a crush on him"

"Okay I came here to tell you that I got my Hogwarts letter, not to be teased by everyone" Valentine laughed and jumped off the bed "I need to go tell James that my letter arrived"

"I made some cupcakes for him and his family" Max shouted as she walked down the stairs.

-----

"James!" Valentine shouted when she walked out the fireplace, box of cupcakes in one hand, letter on top "Jamesie"

"Hi Valentine" James greeted and then saw the box in her arms "Please tell me those are cupcakes"

"Yes" She held the box out for him "They are for your parents aswell so don't eat them all"

"I would never" James took the box and then held up a letter "Something arrived for me today"

Valentine held up a letter aswell that matched the one he held "Is that your Hogwarts letter?"

He nodded and then pulled his best friend into a hug " We're going to Hogwarts together!"

"James the cupcakes" Valentine said.

They pulled away and then looked at the crushed box, when they opened it, the icing was coating the sides and the cupcakes it self were crushed into small bits.

"It'd be a shame to let these go to waste" James shared a look with him and they both sat down on the couch and ate the crushed cupcakes, excited to start school together.
