Quackity woke up to the sound of a knock on the door. He rolled over and looked at the clock that beamed 3:56 before he realized something. Niki was the only one allowed to come into the office without express permission and if she needed him she would just barge in. He sat up nervously and waited to see if it came again. It did the same soft tap tap.

He stood considering waking Sapnap until he remembered. Karl. He rushed to the door and opened it.

Karl was standing on the other side in Sapnap's hoodie. He looked extremely nervous. Karl made quick eye contact with Quackity before looking back down at the ground.

Quackity frowned, "What's wrong, Karl?" He said it softly but Karl jumped.

"I," Karl fidgeted with his hands. "I had a nightmare and I normally do the thing to go back to sleep. But I," he looked like he was going to cry as he finished his sentence. "I couldn't find anything in the bathroom there. So I umm, I can't sleep."

Quackity looked back at the bed where Sapnap was still sleeping before slipping out into the office and closing the door softly behind him. "I'm glad you couldn't find anything to be honest. Do you want to just sit and talk or do you want to do something to get your mind off of it?" He walked to the desk and sat down on it. He patted the wood next to him to signal Karl to sit with him. The room was lit softly by a nightlight that was plugged in by the door.

Karl thought about it as he went and sat next to Quackity. "I don't know honestly. Part of me wants to talk but I also have a bit of me that well, I don't know you so..."

Quackity nodded when he realized Karl wasn't going to finish his sentence. "I get that. How about you tell me about yourself. Not your thing or anything you don't want but like your childhood. Your mom danced right?"

Karl gave half a smile and blushed. "She did. She was great at it. She used to take me to her club and the girls there would put me in cute outfits and give me makeup and teach me how to dance. She was more of a backstage chick at that point. After she had me she didn't ever truly get back out on the stage."

Quackity nodded and asked another question. "How long have you been professionally dancing?"

Karl blushed again. "Actually this was my first night. Great debut huh?" he giggled ever so slightly.

Quackity laughed, "Well do you dance again this week?" He tried not to sound to egear.

Karl giggled. "Why? You can't wait to see me all dressed up again?"

Quackity smirked. "I think his hoodie looks just as sexy on you."

Karl blushed and looked away.

"Oh shit. Sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just ... habit from living with Sapnap." He mentally facepalmed as he remembered Karl was ace.

Karl giggled and brightened a little. "It didn't. I just don't like people seeing me blush." He leaned back and supported himself with a hand propped up on the desk.

Quackity noticed how close their hands were and froze for a second. Then he laid all the way back on his desk and put his hands on his chest. They stayed like that quietly for a bit.

"Friday. 8:00." Karl said.

Quackity had been falling asleep and sat up again. "What on Friday?"

Karl looked at him again. "My schedule. Friday I have to be at Cat Scratch by 8 o'clock."

Quackity nodded. "I can get Sapnap to drive us out. Or I can have someone else take you if that would make you more comfortable."

Karl giggled. "Does everyone here just work for you?" He asked.
