They had known each other for two weeks and they had seen each other almost every day.
But today was a very special day.
"You seem very bubbly today." Maedhros said. "Or at least, more than usual."
They were in Fingon's apartment, Maedhros had just arrived to find Fingon practically jumping in front of the bar. All across it there was food and more was on the stovetop heating up.
Right as you walked in, there were two arm chairs on either end of a coffee table. There was a couch on one side and against the wall on the other was a TV on top of a black and grey wood cabinet.
Behind the couch was a bar with several bar stools and hanging lights. The kitchen wasn't big by any means, but it had every thing it needed. A fridge, dishwasher, sink, and quite a few cabinets.
To the side was a wood dining table with four chairs in the same wrought iron style of the bar stools.
In the same direction down the hall were three doors, two leading to bedrooms and the other to a bathroom. Maedhros wondered why he had such a large apartment despite the fact that he lived alone.
"Of course I'm bubbly, why wouldn't I be?" he asked. "I'm going to see my siblings again for the first time in nearly a year!"
Maedhros stared at him for a moment before stating simply, "I haven't seen my brothers in three years."
"You... you have brothers?" Fingon asked. Meadhros nodded. He walked over and began helping Fingon with what was on the stove.
"How did I not know you have brothers? I've known you for two weeks."
"I haven't seen them in years, it's not exactly like I talk about them a lot." He stirred the apple cider, staring at it like it was the most interesting thing he had ever seen.
"But still. Most people would have mentioned them by now."
"I don't like to talk about my brothers." he said shortly.
Fingon was quiet for a moment but then there was a sound outside the door.
"He did say 1032, right?" Fingon almost yelled out with the excitement building in him. Meadhros turned around to see him opening the door, that same bubbly excitement showing in him again.
He quickly opened the door and didn't give the person on the other side any time at all to react before he hugged him.
"Turgon!!" he yelled. Meadhros had never seen him so excited before. His brother, Turgon apparently, stumbled backwards but quickly wrapped his arms around his older, yet shorter, brother.
"Finno! My word, it's been way too long."
Fingon loosened his grip and dragged him into the apartment, their sister following. Maedhros couldn't help but smile at how absolutely ecstatic Fingon seemed.
"Come on, come on, I have all your favourite foods ready!"
Fingon's siblings noticed Maedhros and immediately became defensive of their brother. Turgon glared at Maedhros and their sister did too snapping, "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"Guys relax, this is Maedhros the guy I was telling you about." After a moment of blank stares he added, "My friend that I met a couple of weeks ago."
      "This?" the girl said.
      "Aredhel!!" Fingon said incredulously.
Maedhros stuffed his hands into the pockets of his hoodie so the others couldn't see the fists he was making. His fingernails dug into his palms and it was all he could do to keep his emotions in.
"Sorry," she said. "Just doesn't seem your type."
Fingon rolled his eyes but he hugged her tightly before going to Maedhros's side and said quietly, "Sorry about her, she doesn't always think about what she's saying before she says it."
"It's alright," he said quietly. Fingon gently pulled one of his hands out of his pocket and pried it open to find four crescent shaped cuts in his palm. He glanced back at his siblings who were getting their things settled.
"Mae, please. She... she wasn't thinking." Fingon took his other hand and held it tight as he looked into his eyes, silently begging him to calm down.
He forced himself calm down. He wasn't going to ruin Fingon's reunion, he refused to. He deserved more.
Fingon smiled, letting go of his hands and turning to his siblings. Maedhros rinsed his hands and went back to stirring the cider. He didn't quite understand why he was acting like this, all he knew was that if Fingon showed this to be his true person, he was going to be a very good friend.
