Wades phone rang, it was late and he didn't want to answer it, but she wouldn't stop calling if he didn't. He turned into the small paved road thinking it was to short of a drive home, he had actually invited someone into his home, a total stranger, what was he thinking, why did he feel such a strong pull towards her, Wade felt a strong urge to protect her and stay close to her. Living in a large property in the outskirts of town was nice and private, and he liked the privacy. He pulled up to the front of the house and parked in front of the two car garage, he watched as Emma pulled in besides him and got out of her car.

"I am hanging up now mom, I'm home, I'm tired its been a long day and I want to go to bed, we can talk tomorrow, I'll call you when I wake up, now go to bed and get some rest... I love you too mom, bye." Wade hung up the phone and stepped out of his truck, he couldn't believe that his mother was calling him at this hour, she knew he was awake because of the diner and she knew he was struggling to find someone steady to work at the diner, But she also knew he was making excuses and using the diner as an escape and a distraction from everything he didn't want to deal with.

Emma leaned against her small red car looking up at the house, he had no idea what was going through her mind right now, why she has accepted a room from a total stranger. She sure wasn't from around here though, Carson was a small town and he had lived here for most of his life on and off. He was sure he had never seen her around this parts, Wade wonder where she was from, if she was running from something or someone, she was jumpy and fidgety. She wore those sunglasses the whole time at the diner and sat in the dark corner as if she was scared to be seen or found by someone. He just couldn't imagine what she could possibly be running from, but right now he really needed the help at the diner.

He stepped out off his truck and came around to meet Emma, "Come on, this way, I'll l show you the house," Wade said to Emma as he walked up the large porch and unlocked the door. He flipped the light switches on as he led her into the entrance of the house, "this is it, the living room is that way," he pointed to the right of the house, "this is the dining room and kitchen, down that hallway is the bathroom and a bedroom, there are more rooms upstairs, my room is on the second floor. I will show you to the room above the garage now, you can use the garage door to come in and out, it'll be easier for you that way, I've got an extra key here," Wade told Emma as he walked straight through to the kitchen, he slowed down when he saw her pick up her step to keep up with me. She bumped into him not realizing he had slowed his pace in order for her to catch up to him, she was distracted looking around the house, her eyes widen and she grimaced as if in pain, she immediately apologized as she held her arm against her chest.

"I'm so sorry, i..i didn't mean to." She stammered nervously.

"It's all right no harm done, there is nothing to worry about. Are you ok though, did you hurt your arm?" Wade asked her.

"I'm ok, its just a bruise, don't worry about it." Emma said as she looked down at the floor.

"Can I see, do you need something for it?" Wade insisted and reached for her, but she backed away before he could grab her arm to help her.

"I'm alright, really, please, I'm tired I would like to rest." She begged with him with her eyes not to question her any further.

"Yeah, sure, it's late , I understand," he turned around and grabbed the key from the small kitchen drawer, "here you go, it's the same key to the front door and the garage door." Emma held out her hand and he placed the key on the palm of her right hand, he looked into her eyes but she lowered her gaze keeping her eyes on the hand that held the key he had just handed her.
