Emma gave him a sad smile, "I don't expect you to help me, look I'm  going to be honest with you, I'm really just passing through here. I don't expect to be here for more than a couple months, I just need to make some money and I will be on my way again, I don't need to involve anyone else in my mess. I just need to get as far away as possible, and this isn't far enough."

She didn't need Cody to catch up to her, she knew what that meant, he would drag her back to that hell hole she lived in for five years, It has taken her long enough to realize it. For her to see the jealousy, the anger, the senseless fighting, the way he punished her because someone had looked at her or because of what she wore. Emma learned to not acknowledge people around her, even when he wasn't with her, which was a rare occasion since he didn't allowed her to go out alone, she had closed herself off to the world for him, but it was never enough and it went from bad to worst with each passing day. But that day was the final straw that day was the day she decided to leave, he had finally made her open her eyes and see him for what he really was a narcissistic controlling person. It had started like any normal Saturday, she got out of bed while he was still sleeping and made him his breakfast, during their meal he told her to get dressed up that night because he wanted to treat her to supper. They had a good day that day, he was kind and loving to her.  They both got ready to go out, Emma decided to wear a dress she hadn't worn in a while. It was a special occasion after all, he rarely took her out, but she found it to be the wrong decision when he roughly grabbed her wrist and twisted just enough for it to be painful but not to bruise. His eyes looked spiteful and his voice was harsh.

"Change, now, you look like a slut. Do you want to make me look bad?" Cody looked at her up and down with disgust, as he pushed her back into the bedroom.

Emma looked at him, and apologized, "I'm sorry, I thought you'd like it, your right, I'll change right away." She hurried to the closet and changed into something more conservative.

Cody was waiting for her by the door with his keys when she came out, he gently grabbed her wrist and kissed her softly, "See what you make me do, you know this was your fault right?"

"I know, I'm sorry." Emma put her head down.

"That's my girl, lets go." Cody and Emma walked to the car and headed out, at the restaurant Cody had too many drinks and Emma had to drive, he was drunk again. Emma hoped they would get home and he would go to bed peacefully and without an argument.

Cody pushed Emma through the front door as soon as they got home, questioning her about why she talked to the waiter so much, Emma knew he was looking for a fight. She tried to pacify him not wanting to start an argument.

"I didn't he took my order, that's it." Emma said.

"I saw the way you looked at him Emma, did you want him, that's why you wanted to wear that sluty dress." Cody grabbed the cigarettes out of his pocket, took one out and lit it. He placed the cigarette between his lips and inhaled deeply, Emma could see his anger rising the way his eyes changed when he was about to do something .

"You know I wouldn't Cody, I would never do that to you." She explained as she backed away from him, she new what was coming next, but it was too late, He grabbed her wrist and twisted it before she could get away from him, he put the lit cigarette on the inside of her arm, she yelled and tried to get loose, "please no, stop," She begged him, only to have him repeat it over and over again until he was satisfied.

Emma squeezed her eyes closed and turned her face away from Wade when he said, "I want to help you, let me help you, tell me what I can do for you Emma." His gaze burned into her, he didn't look like he would back down and he probably wouldn't, Emma could feel it, but she would not accept it. Besides he was already doing enough to help her.
