Chapter 21 - The reveal
*Third Person POV*
"Well you see father..." Wilbur started, now just realizing how nerve racking this was.
Wilbur took a deep breath before explaining everything. How Claire is the lost princess from the Earth kingdom, the facts that backed it up and Phil didn't interrupt once. He just sat listening in astonishment.
It all made sense....
Claire kind of stood behind Wilbur slightly, feeling really intimidated and scared. Once Wilbur had finished, he took a deep breath and waited in anticipation for his father's response.
"Son... I think you're right," was all Phil said as he himself was still trying to process the information that was just given to him. "Claire. Come here," Phil said, holding out his hand for her with a soft, gentle and fatherly smile on his face. He didn't want to scare her.
She slowly walked out from behind Wilbur and he nodded at her reassuringly. Claire made her way up the small steps that led up to Phil's throne and hesitantly put her hand in his.
He slowly turned her hand over and looked at the bracket that was around her wrist. He examined it and then looked up at Claire smiling. "Claire. You are the lost princess from the earth kingdom," Phil said,smiling warmly.
Claire let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and turned around to smile at Wilbur. "You see these markings? That is the Earth kingdom's royal symbol/crest," Phil said, pointing at an engraving on Claire's bracelet.
"I'm shaking," Claire said, chuckling and holding up her hands to show how much they were shaking. Wilbur came over to Claire and took her shaking hands gently.
"I just can't believe I didn't see the resemblance before! I'm good friends with Queen Aspen! When I first met you I knew there was something familiar about you!" Phil said, face palming.
"I need to notify King Adair and Queen Aspen right away," Phil said, getting out an piece of paper and a quill. Phil started to write out a letter and he dismissed Wilbur and Claire.
Once the door closed behind the two, Wilbur pulled Claire into a hug. "It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulder," Wilbur sighed.
"It feels like a gap in my life has just been filled," Claire said, smiling into Wilbur's chest.
"I just... can't believe you're a princess," Wilbur said, pulling away to look at Claire.
"You tell me..." Claire said, turning away from Wilbur. She took a few steps forward and Wilbur tilted his head, feeling confused.
"Claire? Are you okay?" Wilbur asked, placing his hand on Claire's shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine... just a little overwhelmed I guess...." Claire responded, managing a smile.
"If you need anything, tell me," Wilbur said, standing in front of Claire and placing his other hand on her other shoulder.
"Well... there is one thing..."
Wilbur raised an eyebrow.
