-you'd order too much food for just you two
-food coma!!!
-watching a countdown on tv

-gets you multiple presents
-you'd play family games all night long
-you both forgot the countdown but realised it's midnight by the sound of fireworks outside

-the two of you alone or with a couple of friends
-holidays movie marathon
-he fell asleep during the countdown 🙂

-cooking a whole menu together
-asked the neighbours over to celebrate together
-a very loud countdown with a lot of cheering

-probably on a New Years vacation with a warm destination
-it's just like a vacation and you'd almost forget it's a holiday
-countdown on the beach
