To think I was crying for this bastard! Was all Athanasia could think of. Thinking of how he made her heart flutter, was probably only before he left the room. Fleeing from his duties. As the royal magician.

And leaving his paperwork to her.

"Bastard!"

  "Bastard!"

Chapter 8: Honesty

Their relationship was back to normal. Bickering between the royal magician and his personal servant.

Yet again, the napping tabby cats basked in the honeyed sunshine outside— while Athanasia basked in the dusty old shelves of the royal library. Shelving the books that Lucas had just left her with. The shelf was unbelievably high; for spacial purposes which explained the stool she was on.

A creak of the door could be heard. Subtle, yes; but most definitely not unnoticeable. Athanasia tilted her head, turning to see who'd entered the royal magician's library— only much to her dismay, her feet had betrayed her and threw her off her balance.

"No, no, no, no, no, please!" She lamented, lamented her luck, her balance. Lamented the possibility that the unexpected visitor was the shrewd boy indeed. Before Athy knew it, she was bracing herself for the ground impact.

Except... It never came. A firm palm stopped her back from falling any further. For a moment, a single minute, she felt the relief.

"A-Ah, thank-" The short lived relief as the boy pushed her back up, allowing her face to smash right into the book shelf. The scent of yellowed paper never smelt more real.

"Bastard!" she screamed at the laughing boy. She was back on her feet, rubbing her face as her eyebrows furrowed, turning around to face the ruby-eyed boy at last. "What brings you here, my lord?"

Athanasia's nose was still red, a tint of red hued her cheeks from the impact as she rubbed her eyes. "Just because."

"Just because?" She smirked. "Yeah, just because."

You were lonely, weren't you?

"You could help me with your duties!" Stars glistened in Athy's eyes as she looked towards the royal magician. Pushing a lock of black hair behind his ear, the boy scoffed before sticking his tongue out. He took a step towards the door, only for Athy to attempt grabbing onto his clothes.

"You can't just leave everything to me-"

Only for both of them to lose their balance.

His eyes widened— her jaw dropped. Athy was falling right onto him. Before she knew it, her lips felt something soft— something moist. Something... That felt much like the lips of another person. When the realisation struck, she shut her eyes tight, pushing Lucas off.
