TRUE TO form, Sasha jumped off of the roof of a car, flipping once before sinking both of her swords into the back of a robot. She forced them in further until the blades came out the other side. The robot staggered, self-destructing. She finished it off by smashing its head with the hilt of her sword, and it collapsed onto the ground.
"Damn straight," she muttered. She glanced up at the sky and spotted another robot flying towards her at full speed. At the last second, Sasha dove into a building, and the robot crashed into its wall, exploding on impact. A third one flew into the building and threw her across the street. She landed on her feet, trading her swords for the gun in her waistband holster. She shot it down, then picked her swords back up and ripped the thing apart.
People suddenly stormed the streets, apparently heading somewhere in a rush. Sasha followed, catching sight of a smaller S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier dispensing aircrafts to carry people to safety.
"Nice of you to join us, Sasha," Fury's voice came through her comms. Sasha rolled her eyes.
"Sorry, I was busy keeping killer robots from tearing me to shreds."
"Sasha!"
It took Sasha a moment to realize that Natasha's voice wasn't coming through her ear piece. She turned around to see Natasha driving a truck right for her. The truck stopped just long enough for her to jump in.
"Hey." Natasha smiled a little bit, speeding up again. Sasha smiled back.
"Hey. Glad you're not dead."
"Likewise. Did you stay out of trouble?"
"Don't I always?"
"Of course. I must be thinking of someone else." Natasha paused, focusing on smashing through a crowd of robots. She didn't know what to say. Emotions were not her thing in the least. Having them, expressing them, all of it was a no. The best she could come up with was, "You okay?"
"I've had better days." Sasha shrugged. "You?"
"About the same."
Another awkward silence followed. Sasha didn't know what to say either. Talking about her feelings in a therapy group of people she'd never see again after another month was one thing. Talking about them with a person she cared about was a whole other ballgame. So instead she chose not to talk. She inched closer and gently put her hand on Natasha's. Natasha said nothing either, reciprocating the gesture as best she could while driving by wrapping her pinkie around Sasha's.
Naturally, Tony had to ruin the moment.
"Romanoff. You and Banner better not be playing "hide the zucchini"."
"Thank you so much for that visual," Sasha replied. "I really needed that."
Natasha couldn't help but smirk. "Relax, shellhead. Not all of us can fly. I've got Sasha. We're on our way over."
They continued crashing through robots until coming to a sudden stop. They both got out and jogged into the church where the rest of the Avengers had assembled.
"What's the drill?" Natasha asked Tony. He pointed to a turning metal structure at the center of the building.
"This is the drill. If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose."
The Hulk stomped into the church, ripping robots in half. Behind him, Ultron hovered in the air.
"Is that the best you can do?" Thor yelled. Sasha put her face in her hands. They were absolutely fucked.
Ultron raised his hand, signaling his mob of robot minions to join him. His army was absolutely gigantic.
"Just fabulous," Sasha muttered. "Because today was already going so great."
