the following day at school, beomgyu arrived to his third period class a bit early, hoping to speak to taehyun beforehand.
as beomgyu waited at his desk for the boy, he received many stares.
beomgyu was used to it by then. he had been feeling numerous pairs of eyes on him all day. beomgyu was shocked that he had more attention than his popular brother for once.
the bell soon rang. taehyun still wasn't there.
the teacher began to lecture. taehyun still wasn't there.
just as beomgyu had given up hope to speak to taehyun, he entered the classroom. beomgyu looked at the boy.
taehyun looked distraught and slightly out of it. a bruise had formed on his cheek, and he held an odd expression on his face. once again, beomgyu was unable to read his emotions.
"kang taehyun, where were you? do you have a tardy slip?" the teacher asked, turning his gaze to the student who had entered.
"no, sir," taehyun replied.
"detention after school. my classroom."
taehyun bowed his head, making his way to his seat.
an idea popped into beomgyu's head. he knew he would be scolded by his brother for it, but he had to speak to taehyun.
beomgyu reached into his pocket, grabbing his phone. he quickly typed something into it.
suddenly, loud music began to play from his phone. everyone turned to look at him. beomgyu scratched the back of his neck, turning off his phone.
"choi beomgyu, phone please," the teacher held out a hand, voice cold.
beomgyu walked to the front, handing the teacher his phone. "detention after school, this classroom."
beomgyu nodded, going back to his seat.
as the school day came to an end, beomgyu felt his nerves growing. maybe this wasn't a good idea, the boy thought.
the final bell soon rang, and beomgyu made his way back to his third period classroom. he saw the teacher sitting at his desk.
"excuse me?"
"here for detention?" the teacher asked, looking at beomgyu.
"yes, i was wondering if i could use my phone to inform my brother?" beomgyu asked the teacher.
"go ahead. give it back when you are done," the teacher reached into a desk drawer, handing beomgyu his phone.
beomgyu noticed he had received a message from taehyung.
taetae: our parents are coming home today. they should be home after school
"shit," beomgyu cursed under his breath. he looked up, noticing taehyun had sat down at a desk.
"is there a problem, beomgyu?" the teacher asked.
"i was wondering if i could maybe have detention tomorrow or a different day instead..?" beomgyu asked, hoping the teacher would agree to the suggestion.
"no, you should have thought about this before using your phone during my class." the teacher replied before looking back at his laptop.
beomgyu sighed, his fist clenching, nails digging into his palm.
"okay." beomgyu responded before typing a message to taehyung, informing his brother of his detention.
he handed his phone back to his teacher before sitting in a random desk. he'd talk to taehyun after the detention was over.
the detention finally ended an hour and a half later. taehyun immediately stood when the teacher announced the two could leave.
beomgyu stood as taehyun left the classroom quickly. his teacher gave him his phone back, and beomgyu raced out of the classroom, trailing behind taehyun.
"wait!" beomgyu raised his voice slightly so taehyun could hear.
taehyun stopped in the empty hallway, hearing beomgyu's voice. he turned back towards beomgyu, who was speed walking towards him.
"taehyun, i need to talk to you," beomgyu panted, "geez... you're fast."
"what is it?" taehyun asked, his eyes on beomgyu.
beomgyu's eyes met taehyun's. beomgyu could hear his heart beating loudly in his chest, significantly increasing pace from the eye contact.
his eyes are beautiful... he's beautiful, beomgyu thought as his eyes locked with taehyun's.
"um, hello?" taehyun asked, an eyebrow raised.
beomgyu blinked, trance broken.
"i-i wanted to say thank you..." beomgyu's voice trailed off. "for yesterday," he added.
"you didn't have to do that for me. you hardly know me," beomgyu told the boy.
taehyun's eyes became cold. his expression became unreadable again. "and what makes you think i did that for you?" taehyun asked, his voice made of steel.
"well, i just thought since you stood in front of me..." beomgyu stopped speaking, looking down at the floor.
"i did not do that for you. i don't care about you. we're not friends. we don't know each other," taehyun's eyes were narrowed. beomgyu noticed anger in them.
beomgyu flinched, thinking taehyun would knock him out like he did to woojin. he took a step backwards. "ok, i'm sorry. i was wrong," beomgyu replied, voice cold.
"you were." was all taehyun said before turning on his heels, leaving beomgyu standing in the middle of the empty school hallway.
beomgyu sighed.
what did i ever do to him?
