taehyun's pov
taehyun couldn't stop himself from thinking about a certain raven-haired boy. he knew he felt something towards the boy, and he hated it. his parents would not approve.
why on earth does beomgyu have to be so damn attractive?
taehyun sighed, walking downstairs to where his clingy parents were.
"i'm gonna take hobak on a walk, i'll be back in 10," he informed them.
he grabbed hobak's leash, attaching it to the cat's collar. then, he opened the door and stepped outside.
he walked down the sidewalk. as he walked, he noticed something was on the path. he squinted his eyes, having no clue what the huddled figure on the sidewalk was.
as he neared it, he realized what it was.
holy shit, that's a person, taehyun thought, stunned.
he walked towards the person. he quickly noticed it was beomgyu.
"oh my god." taehyun covered his mouth with his hand when he saw the unconscious boy's face. the boy had several bruises lining his pale skin.
beomgyu looked bad. really bad.
taehyun crouched down next to the boy, grabbing one of his hands. he lifted the hoodie sleeve slightly, placing his thumb on his inner wrist, feeling the healthy pulse.
"thank goodness." taehyun breathed. the boy was alive.
taehyun knew he needed to help the boy. he slipped the leash handle onto his wrist, then grabbed beomgyu.
he lifted beomgyu quite easily, carrying him bridal style. beomgyu's head was leaned against his chest. his eyes were closed.
he carried the unconscious boy into his house, slightly struggling with opening the door.
his parents looked up when he entered. their eyes grew huge when they saw taehyun holding a boy.
taehyun's mom stood, "who is that?"
"someone i know from school. i found him outside, unconscious," taehyun responded.
taehyun's mom rushed to take hobak's leash from taehyun and told him to bring beomgyu upstairs to his room.
taehyun carried the boy up the stairs easily, placing him on taehyun's bed. his dad entered the room right after.
"his face looks rough, i wonder what happened," taehyun's father spoke his thoughts.
taehyun nodded in agreement. in the light, he could see more bruises and small cuts littering his face. he could also see that beomgyu was developing a horrible black eye.
taehyun bit his bottom lip. he wanted to find out who did this to the poor boy. he wanted to protect the boy.
taehyun turned, seeing his mom enter the room with an few ice packs and a glass of water. "taehyun, help me hold some of the ice packs on his bruises," his mom instructed.
taehyun took two ice packs, holding them on separate parts of his face. his mom applied antibiotics to a small cut in his cheek and a slightly larger one on his forehead. beomgyu was still out cold, not feeling any of the treatment.
taehyun felt sick to his stomach, worried about the other. he didn't have a clue of who would do this.
taehyun's mind brought him back to the beginning of detention, when he heard beomgyu asking the teacher to schedule his detention to a different day.
is that why he wanted to miss? taehyun questioned himself.
when mrs. kang finished treating beomgyu's injures, she stood back. "taehyun, stay in here until he wakes up. i don't want him waking up in the middle of the night confused," she told her son.
"okay, mom."
taehyun's mother left the room, leaving taehyun standing next to beomgyu.
he sighed, dragging a chair next to the bed. his cat, hobak, leaped onto his bed. the cat laid down next to the unconscious boy.
taehyun closed his eyes. it would be a long night.
beomgyu's pov
beomgyu opened an eye, his face aching, head pounding, eye hurting, and body weak. he looked around, realizing he was in an unfamiliar room. it was a bedroom, which mainly consisted of the color navy blue.
beomgyu looked down, feeling something furry brushing his hand. it was a cat. a very cute cat.
beomgyu lifted his hand, petting the cat softly. beomgyu then looked up, seeing a boy sitting uncomfortably in a chair next to the bed.
wait a minute...
taehyun?!
beomgyu's eye widened. he was in taehyun's room? the boy was very confused.
taehyun slowly opened his eyes, blinking at the boy who was staring at him with wide eyes. "ah, you're awake?"
"um... why am i here?" beomgyu asked, his voice hoarse.
"i found you unconscious on the sidewalk last night," taehyun explained, "you looked bad and i figured it would be too cruel to leave you."
"oh." was all beomgyu could respond.
the memories began flooding back to him. his dads fist. his moms uncaring expression. his brothers worry and fear. beomgyu felt tears in his eyes.
beomgyu quickly dug into his pocket for his phone. he checked the time. 9 AM. he read through the countless text messages he had recieved from taehyung. fortunately, his parents had left again early this morning.
taehyung had called him 20+ times and had sent him over 100 text messages. beomgyu felt bad, but he knew he had to run.
"would you mind telling me what happened?" a voice asked, reminding beomgyu that he in taehyun's room.
"why do you care?" beomgyu asked, his voice cracking.
"i care because your face looks terrible. look at it."
beomgyu opened his camera app, looking at his face. his one eye that he could open widened. his other eye was swollen and dark, and he had bruises lining his face. "m-my face..."
taehyun sighed, "now please tell me what happened."
beomgyu wasn't sure he could trust the other boy. then, he thought of something.
"only if you become my friend," beomgyu told him, smiling slightly.
taehyun sighed, rubbing his face with his hands, "fine."
"okay, well, uh..." beomgyu looked down at his hands, "it was my parents, they were mad at me for getting detention..." beomgyu's voice was lowered to a whisper.
"beomgyu, did you get detention just to speak to me?"
beomgyu looked up at the boy who's eyes were already on him. beomgyu nodded and looked back down.
taehyun sighed. when beomgyu looked back up at taehyun, he noticed that his eyes were lined with guilt, slight anger, and another unreadable expression.
"listen, beomgyu," taehyun began, "my intention really was to protect you from woojin. i'm sorry for being rude and lying to you..."
beomgyu smiled, "it's fine... besides, the past is the past. you helped me with my injuries, and that's enough to make me forget."
taehyun and beomgyu smiled at eachother, both unknowing of the close friendship which was only just beginning to blossom between the two.
