Song: Apocalypse - Cigarettes after sex

Welcome to another chapter! Honestly love this song regardless, it's just a good song. Umm, wasn't really happy with this chapter, might take It down to work on it. Its more of a filler and a charcter introduction chapter. I promise these chapter will be longer.

/Third pov/

Karl suddenly didn't feel light anymore. It was as if his clothes had become weights, trying to drag him under the water's black liquid surface. Its gentle ripples oozed darkness as he splashed to keep afloat. He didn't want to be pulled under anymore, he wanted to run away. A frost suddenly captured his lungs, causing him to breathe frantically. But no matter how cold the water chilled his blood or turned his pale skin blue, the eyes of the other kept him burning, writhing in the heat.

The figure from the bridge yelled something at him but Karl could no longer focus on the stranger, He was desperate to keep himself from drowning in a pool of regrets. As his arms continued to flail around in an attempt to keep swimming, Karl listened to the voice of the newcomer, it was almost as panicked as his, alarmed and scared. Afraid. As Karl tried to stay unsubmerged in the cool lake as he listened to the others' desperate screams from the bridge carrying on the night's breeze, and from where Karl was, he could safely say the voice was from a boy. A slap of frozen water hit Karl's face making his squirm ever so slightly under his skin.

But to his dismay, everything felt like it was going quickly. his body became tired from treading the thick liquid. The rhythm of repeatedly thrashing his arms around became a mindless blur, a cycle. But Karl was ripped from those thoughts as the boy from the bridge had come running down near the lake, then past his bench, reaching the edge of the lake. Frightened, Karl bobbed under the water letting go of his fighting as the cool water hit his forehead with a ferocity. He was no longer trying to swim above, but deeper into the abyss. He needed to stay hidden, concealed by the midnight water.

Surprisingly, there was no noise under the surface, just the faint hum of limbs moving and his buzzing thoughts, but eventually that subsided as well. It was as dark as it looked, swallowing every inch of his pale skin. Karl's heart beated steadily in his chest as everything seemed to ease, slowly the seconds and preserving the evening.

No longer distraught, he let his heavy eyelids open, sending the bitter lake water to the back of his skull. Just like the muted sound, there wasn't much to see. Just a deep midnight blue clouding his vision and the silvery outline of the moon reflecting from above, it's light failing to touch his wide green eyes.

Then there was a sudden noise of water breaking to his left. Twisting drastically, Karl could manage to see the faint outline of the figure from the bridge swimming deeper into the lake. Towards Karl. The boy let out a small gasp, air escaping from his raw mouth. He didn't know what to do, he couldn't swim with his numb limbs, he couldn't continue sinking forever. Karl knew there was only one thing he could do, he had to fill his lungs with the freezing blue. His chest felt abnormally heavy even when he tried to leech the air from his mouth. But something had made him pause. His mind screamed at him. What is happening? Karl tried again; this time just as unsuccessful as the last.

But even as the figure came closer, Karl couldn't bring himself to open his mouth, to swallow the murky water. It should have been simple, Karl wanted to, there was nothing else he craved for, but something inside him was unwilling to open his jaws. Karl squirmed in the water, hoping for himself to gulp at the darkness but his mouth stayed shut, and his nose was sealed. He wanted to cry. He didn't even know if he could, from being under water already, so he claimed the lake to be his pool of tears.
