In the Empty Ballroom...

I stare at the little bunny that stood before me with her blank yet bright expression, as if she had seen something amazing. I have always seen this eyes before, as if I was an exhibition item for people to stare at. Despite me usually feeling nauseous and uncomfortable, her gaze was much more pleasant than I expected.

'A weird person, indeed.' I thought to myself as I looked down at her.

Golden brown hair that matches the colour of hay, her green little dress that looks as if she had ran around to have little peaks of dust and shoes that aren't so polished.

This clearly checks her out of my list of suitable companions but what got me interested were her peridot green orbs that show a hint of carnivorous persona yet her outer appearance seemed as if she would be devoured easily.

There were two possible explanations for those hint of predatory aura.

One being her trying to innocently crawl to my side like the other nobles do by displaying a harmless appearance.

Another being that she is waiting for the right moment to strike at me, especially once I let my guard down.

There is no in between. I know that, just like what mother taught.

"Don't trust anyone as long as they are within these palace walls, everyone here is an enemy. Whether they have a chance of succeeding the throne or are helping those who can." The words my mother once said to me ring through my mind as if to remind me about how this innocent looking sheep can just be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I went back to observe her where I found her mouth left hanging open. This immediately confused me as I wondered, "Do I look like a bounty that can provide her with a delicious meal... or am I the tasty treat???"

In a state of confusion as I try to figure her out, I hear a faint mumble from her that seems unintentionally. Yes, reveal your purpose to me, fool! Excited to get my theories right, I was left dumbfounded when I hear her mumble, "My dream..."

Her... dream...?

'What does that even mean???' I wanted to scream out of frustration at this weird looking peasant that looks at me like I'm some kind of treat. Suddenly, my frustration evaporated completely when I saw her smile sheepishly with a little blush on her fair cheeks.

Letting out a little giggle, I began to find her much complex and interesting compared to those I could immediately read just from their acts. I shall test her to see if she know who I am. I broke the silence by introducing myself, "I'm Melody Mikami,"

As I pausing to walk down closer to her, she seemed to be daydreaming with her little smile. Not getting the reaction I wanted, I added, "Princess Melody to be precise."

'Yes! Show that you know me and try to stick up to me! Just like the others!' I excitedly exclaimed in my head as I stare at the little creature.

Suddenly she seemed to snap out of her daydream and screamed while bowing, "OH MY GOODNESS! YOUR HIGHNESS!"

'What?' I was left stunned by her sudden reaction.

Did she not know who I was? The only Legitimate Princess in this kingdom?

To clear my confusion, I asked, "Um... Did you know who I was, Miki Inazuma?"

Without hesitation, she blabbered, "I didn't expect you to be the princess! I only thought you were an Angel-"
