It had been a stormy night when y/n had walked home from the store carrying groceries she had bought for her and Asher. She had never really had a problem with walking home at night, it was usually quite safe where she had lived and people were generally nice to her and her kid. Of course, you had the occasional people who would gossip about her and about her being a single mom. As she crossed the empty street, she had let out the warmth of her breath from her peach lips. She had always loved winter time, for it was the time she could wear warm sweaters and beautiful scarves and the mittens her father had given to her one birthday. Her shadow followed her as it seemed to dance along the sidewalk from the oddly angled streetlamps across the city. y/n was reaching in her small bag to grab her phone when it had begun to ring. She lifted the phone with her dainty little fingers up to her ear. "Hello?" her soft voice asked. On the other end of the phone, she could hear what sounded like a gruff voice, one she had known for years.

" Hey, it's me..." y/n raised a brow at the man on the phone, for she never expected him to call her, she hasn't heard from him in over 9 months. After his son had been killed, he had closed himself off to her. She sighed and began to spoke once more. " Hank, It's nice to know you're alive, dear." she heard what sounded like a grumble from the man along with rustling. " Yeah i know, sorry about that by the way, but that's not why I called." after hank spoke another voice spoke in the background, to what sounded like an almost playful yet static voice, and something along the lines of 'sumo has my tit? Or maybe it was a tie? She didn't know. Y/n was curious of the other voice, it was rare hank had company, even before Cole passed. "Well it sounds like you're busy, whatever you want to talk about we can in person. " Y/n said. She was nearing her home. She hears a scruffy 'sure' from the line before she heard the ending tone of her phone.

y/n shook her head after finishing her phone call. As she placed her phone into her bag, she grabbed her keys to her small, but nice house. When she turned the knob to her door, she was jumped with little hands around her waist and a tiny head on her stomach. "Welcome home mommy!!" Asher greeted y/n. She smiled and patted his head. " Thank you, sweet boy". After losing the child's strong grip, she padded over to her kitchen and placed the groceries she picked up on the counter and looked at her son. " Is orange chicken and rice okay for dinner, sweets?" she asked the boy while leaning over the counter with packaged rice in hand. The little boy looked up from the cards he was playing with and smiled at his mom. " Sounds good!" y/n smiled and began to fix the dinner she had planned on. Before getting everything from the bag, she placed on her frilly baby blue apron, One her son had picked out for her. And from there she started dinner, a dinner that once done, had filled up her and her soon sleepy son.

After cleaning up the dishes she had used to cook and the plates her food had once resided on, she had traveled to the living room. Upon entry, she found a dozing little boy who had already washed up and was in his little bear onesie his grandpa had given him. So y/n had picked Asher up and had traveled up the few steps in her house all the way down to her son's room. She opened the door and placed the boy down on his little bed and tucked him in tight, not forgetting the little bear she had given him at birth. The little boy had the looks of an angel when he slept.

Y/n kissed the top of her son's head and turned the lights off along with had closed the dark wooden door. Y/n had begun to yawn, so she traveled over to her own wooden door while turning off all the lights with the help of her phone, which controlled the outside cameras and lights of her house. She opened her door and closed it while traveling over to her black dresser and slipped a night gown out and on for bed. She had traveled to the bathroom and washed up for bed before she combed her hair. Y/n had lifted her covers and slipped her beautiful legs in her large bed. Sometimes she had felt the bed was just so empty without a companion to sleep the nights away with, but she just smiled to herself and laid her head on her pillow. As she closed her eyes, she thought about her future. A possible future with someone who could love her and her son forever....
