Elena POV

OMG I can't wait for Mr Tanner's extremely boring History lesson to end and for Summer to finally start!! Just earlier today, Mrs Branson had announced that 30 of us juniors were selected to go on an exchange program to Mystic Falls. I was so excited that my best friends, Caroline and Bonnie were going on this exchange trip with me as well.

"Elena Gilbert. Are you paying attention?"

Mr Tanner snapped me out from my daydream of the perfect Summer with my two best friends and maybe even meeting a super hot guy along the way.

"Sorry Mr Tanner, please continue."

Tanner glared at me and resumed his teaching. I put my holiday thoughts at the back of my mind and focused on Tanner and his History. Only 5 more minutes till the bell rings!! I thought to myself.

------

The five minutes was more like an hour, and when the bell rang, I immediately grabbed my bag and dashed out of the classroom to my locker. When I reached my locker, Bonnie and Caroline were already standing there. Caroline, being the control freak she is, immediately started ranting at me that we had to make every minute of Summer count and complained why I had taken so long to come to my locker. I decided it was worthless to say anything back, so I dumped whatever I needed into my bag and shut my locker and three of us ran out of school together screaming "Summer here we come!!!!!!"

Since we were leaving for Mystic Falls the day after Summer break started, Caroline suggested that we should have some girl time at the favorite teenager's spot in Whitmore, The Whitmore Coffee House. So here we were at The Whitmore Coffee House catching up over cups of coffee. Well, actually I was drinking hot chocolate because I had reached my coffee limit for the day, while Caroline was drinking a caramel frappuccino and Bonnie was drinking a white chocolate mocha.

"So girls, what's new?" Caroline perked up. We ended up talking for longer than expected and when I finally realized what time it was, I was late for dinner with my family. "Sorry girls, but we have to cut short girl time now. I'm late for dinner and I haven't packed my bags yet when we are leaving for Mystic Falls tomorrow!"

"Yeah I better go and pack too." piped Bonnie.

"Okies girls see you tomorrow!!Don't be late!!" said Caroline, as we waved goodbye to each other.

At Home

"Hey Mom and Dad I'm home!! Sorry I'm late, I was catching up with Caroline and Bonnie over coffee and we didn't realize that the time had passed so quickly." My Mom and Dad waved it off and asked me to join them for dinner.

After dinner, Jeremy left to do some homework in his room while I rushed around in my room packing clothes and my toiletries into my bag. Since the exchange program was for 5 weeks and Summer break was for 10 weeks, my parents decided to rent a holiday house in Mystic Falls after I finished my exchange program so that we could have some family time away from Whitmore. I only needed to pack for my exchange program since Mom could help me pack for our vacation, but 5 weeks was still quite a long time!!

Finally after 2 hours, I had stuffed everything into my bag and put it by the front door, ready for tomorrow. I quickly took a shower and brushed my teeth and flung myself on my bed, and within minutes, I had fallen asleep.

Next Morning

Beep! Beep!

My alarm clock woke me up from my slumber and I forced myself out of bed because I didn't want to be late meeting Caroline and Bonnie. If I was even one second late, Caroline would kill me. I ran into the shower and let he warm water cascade down my body to wake myself up and was out within 5 minutes. I pulled out my favourite pair of jeans and a crop top and put them on and applied a little makeup. The smell of chocolate chip pancakes wafted through my nose as I walked down the stairs.

"Morning Mom, morning Dad."

"Morning dear. How was your sleep?" my Mom asked. I replied that it was fine and reached up to take a plate from the cupboard and took a large stack of my favorite breakfast and started eating. I quickly ate my breakfast and waved goodbye to my Dad as Mom drove me to school. Seems like Jeremy was still asleep. I was sad that I couldn't wave goodbye to him but I would see him in two weeks.

"I packed some of your favourite chocolate chip pancakes for you, Caroline and Bonnie for the road." Mom said as she pulled up into school. "Stay safe and have fun, see you in 5 weeks!" Mom said as she gave me a hug and a kiss. I grabbed my bag from the backseat and went to join Caroline and Bonnie who were waving at me.

As Mrs Branson was taking our attendance in the bus, Caroline, Bonnie and me had found a perfect spot at he back of the bus for three of us. Mrs Branson said that the journey would take about four hours and that we were leaving now. Three of us resumed our conversation from the day before. Two hours into our journey, when Caroline complained that she was hungry, I took out the chocolate chip pancakes from my bag.

"Omg Elena! You're a lifesaver!!! And I so love your Mom for making these for us!" I giggled at Caroline and started to devour my pancakes. As soon as we finished eating, Caroline and Bonnie fell asleep and I decided to rest as well. Not long after, I drifted off into slumberland for the rest of the way to Mystic Falls.
