The Summer That Changed My Life

Chapter 3: Summer Exchange

Elena POV

Beep! Beep! 

The alarm clock rang noisily. I groaned and slapped the snooze button down. I forced myself to get out of bed because I didn't want to be late. 

"Caroline, Bonnie wake up. We're gonna be late if you guys don't wake up now." I said to them as I shook Caroline and Bonnie awake.

"Erguh Elena 5 more minutes please." whined Caroline.

"Sorry Care but we can't, it's already 7am and remember that Mrs Branson said that we had to meet at 8."

"OMG really??!! How am I supposed to have time to do my hair and makeup?? I need to impress the boys. Well, if there are any eye-candy for me to flirt with."

"Care really......"

After we hurriedly washed up and changed, we rushed downed to the entrance of the dorm and arrived just in time as Mrs Branson started addressing us.

"Good Morning everyone!! I hope everyone had a good rest. Today we will start our exchange program and each on of you will be paired with a junior from each of the three junior classes here at Mystic Falls High School. You will stay with your partners for the whole duration of the exchange program. Now we will head off to breakfast where you will receive your individual schedules and the name of your partners. Now have fun and don't forget to study properly as well, this exchange is not just all about fun and games. Good luck everyone!!"

At the dining hall

"Hey Elena! So who are you paired with and what is your schedule like?" chimed Caroline and Bonnie.

I giggled at how excited Caroline was and told them I was paired of with someone known as Stefan Salvatore. The surname Salvatore intrigued me. It certainly was not a common surname and it gave me the feels that this was a mysterious person and gave me the chills. I shook it off and continued to have an animated conversation with Caroline and Bonnie over breakfast, learning that  Caroline was paired with someone known as Tyler Lockwood and Bonnie was paired with a Matt Donovan. Thank goodness by some miracle, we all were in the same classes. When the bell rang, we dumped our trays and headed of to class.

In class

We walked into our first class and we were introduced by Mrs Lily-white, who was also the form teacher of our partners'.

"Hi I'm Stefan, you must be Elena."

I look up into a pair of bright green eyes and perfectly tousled tanned colored hair that belonged to Stefan Salvatore and noticed the warmness in them. There was nothing in those eyes that gave me the chills like how I imagined. I smiled back and introduced myself as I shook his hand. "Hi Stefan. Well, yeah I'm Elena. Nice to meet you."

He shook my hand as well, but what he did next completely took me by surprise. He lifted my hand to his lips and gave it a soft kiss. I blushed and looked down at the floor. Caroline and Bonnie spotted the moved made by Stefan from across the room and both of them winked at me with a mischievous look. Just as I was about to glare back at Caroline and Bonnie for trying to be funny, Mrs Lily-white called for us to settle down as we started our first lesson of the day. The rest of the day flew by and soon school was over.Stefan invited Caroline, Bonnie and me to hang out with his group of friends over at the Mystic Grill or also known as The Grill, which was kinda like Whitmore Coffee House, except that it had a bar and sold proper meals. I also learnt that Stefan, Tyler and Matt were really good friends and did everything with each other, kinda like the male version of me, Caroline and Bonnie.

"Hey I spy with my little eye a pool table. How about we play a round of pool??" suggested Caroline.

I really didn't feel like playing pool as I wanted to talk to Stefan and know more about him. I was interested to know more about him and his family through our mini conversations throughout the day. Stefan seemed to notice this and spoke up for me. 

"Why don't you guys go play instead. I feel like talking to Elena and knowing more about her." 

I silently thanked Stefan and gave a 'I'm sorry' look towards Caroline. "So Stefan, tell me more about yourself."

"Well, I actually have an older brother called Damon but we aren't close at all. In fact I don't like him at all. He's a manipulative idiot who spends his time getting wasted at The Grill and banging chicks here and there. My Mom is never in town because she's always flying around the world doing God knows what and my Dad is a doctor at the local hospital."  The look in Stefan's eyes when he talked about his brother stunned me. Never have I seen someone who hated his brother so much. Even though I found Jeremy really annoying sometimes, I could never bring myself to hate him that much or talk about him like that. I felt sad for Stefan that he could probably never forgive his brother and have a close relationship like I had with Jeremy. I snapped myself out of my thoughts of Stefan and Damon and managed to catch the last of Stefan's conversation. 

"Stay away from him Elena. My brother is no good at all. Don't get to attracted to his charming ways and do something you might regret." I nodded at Stefan and wondering what Damon had done to make Stefan hate him so much. I could tell that there was more to their feud than just because of Damon's lifestyle.

Hey everyone!!! I'm back!! Haha. Sry if this chappie sucked :( I juz felt that this was a good place to stop for this chapter. I just started school as seen from the author's note and well I'm having a bit of a writer's block for the first few chapters.Haha. I have like ideas for 5 chapters down the road and it's annoying cauz I don't hav ideas for the next few chapters.Haha.Enough about me ranting.Comments r welcomed!!! (pls do cauz i need help :P)
