The Next Day, I Woke Up To Loud Knocks At My Door.

"Layla! Open This Door!" I Heard My Mom Say. I Groaned As I Climbed Out Of Bed And Opened The Door.

"Why Is Your Door Lock?" She Asked.

"I Must've Forgotten To Unlock It After I Got Out Of The Shower." I Said.

"Oh...Okay Then. Let Me Look At You." She Said As She Examined My Face, Side, And Back.

"That Little Bastard Bruised You Up Good!" She Snapped.

"They'll Go Away Mom." I Said.

"That's Not The Point! Ugh! Come Downstairs And Eat." She Said.

"Give Me A Few Minutes." I Said. She Nodded And Walked Out Of My Room. I Closed My Door And Headed Into The Bathroom To Shower And Get Ready For The Day.

I Joined My Mom And Carl In The Kitchen And Sat Down. Carl Gave Me A Mean Glare That Made Me Squirm In My Seat Little.

"What Time Is Your Dad Coming?" My Mom Asked.

"He Said 3." I Said.

"Okay Well We Have A Meeting At The Club, Then Afterwards We Should Go Get Our Nails And Toes Done." She Said.

"Yeah Okay." I Said. She Nodded As She Got Up.

"Be Ready At 1." She Said. I Nodded As She Hurried Out The Door. The Tension Grew While I Sat Quietly Eating My Breakfast. Carl Just Stared At Me And Shook His Head. Normally He'd Say Something Ignorant, Or Tried To Come On To Me, But All He Did Was Get Up And Leave The House. I Let Out A Loud Sigh As I Quietly Thanked God For Giving Me A Free Day Of NO Abuse!

My Mom And I Were At The Nail Shop Soaking Our Feet In The Spa Tub. I Missed Having Quality Time With My Mom, But I'd Soon Have To Share Her With That Wack Ass Pimp.

"What's On Your Mind Baby?" My Mom Asked. What Wasn't On My Mind?

"Would You Ever Stop Stripping?" I Blurted Out. She Sighed As She Looked Around At The Other People Getting Their Nails Done.

"I've Thought About It, But...It Pays Me Well." She Said. I Just Rolled My Eyes.

"Layla..." She Began, But I Cut Her Off.

"Do You Have Any Idea How Your Profession Affects Me? How Your Life Choices Affect Me! No! You Don't Have A Clue!" I Snapped, Causing Everyone To Look At Us.

"You Have Lost Your Damn Mind?" My Mom Mumbled. I Gave Everybody A "What The Fuck You Looking At" Face. Everybody Turned And Went Back To Focusing On Their Nails. Once We Walked Out Of The Nail Shop, My Mom Grabbed Me.

"Don't You Ever Embarrass Me Like That Again! You Have Really Lost Your Fucking Mind!" She Snapped. I Snatched My Arm Away And Stomped To The Car. I Had Half A Mind To Just Walk Home, But That Was Way Too Damn Far!

I Left The House Without Saying Bye To My Mom. She Really Pissed Me Off And I Had Just About Enough Of Her! I Got In The Car With My Dad And He Immediately Pulled Off. This Was The First Weekend I Was Spending With My Dad Since Him And My Mom Broke Up Almost A Year Ago. I Sat Quietly In The Front Seat As My Dad Talked On The Phone.

"I Have My Daughter For The Weekend, But Monday Will Definitely Work For Me." He Said. He Wrapped Up His Conversation Up And Put His Attention On Me.

"Look How Grown You've Gotten! You Definitely Look Like Your Mother." He Said.

"Joy." I Said Dryly.

"What's Wrong?" He Asked.

"Me And Mom Got Into A Fight." I Said.

"What About?" He Asked.

"Her Job! I Get Laughed At And Talked About Because She's A Stripper! And To Makes Matters Worse, She's Engaged To A Pimp!" I Said. He Shook His Head.

"I Really Didn't Want You In That Type Of Environment, Layla." He Said. I Just Shrugged.

"How About You Come Live With Me." He Said. My Eyes Widened As I Glanced At Him. My Dad Must've Been On Some Shit Because He NEVER Said Anything Like That To Me.

"I...I...I Don't Know. I'll Have To Think About It." I Said.

"No Pressure. But Think Long And Hard Baby Girl." He Said. I Nodded As I Glanced Out The Window. I Might Just Consider Taking Him Up On His Offer.
