The One For Me

A New Start

Y/N POV
After a long, long day, most of my furniture is unpacked. Once I sit down for the first time in hours, I get a knock at my door. I sigh as I get up to go unlock and open the door. Once the door is open, I am greeted by an older woman who introduces herself as Alma, the oldest of the Madrigals. Alma questions firmly yet sweetly, "Hello dear, as we do not get many new folks in town, the Madrigals and I were wondering if you would like to stop by for dinner later."
"Sure!" I state enthusiastically. We discuss the rest of the details and she leaves.

Time skip to dinner time
It's about time to go to the Madrigals for dinner now, I put on one of my nicer dresses and head out. Once I arrive I'm greeted by Alma and she guides my to the dinner table. At the table there are only 2 open seats, so I wait for Alma to sit down so I know which seat I should go to. Alma sits down and I sit down next to a scrawny man in a green poncho with voluminous, black, curly hair. I introduce myself as Y/N and I get to know the Madrigals. The most enthusiastic of all of the Madrigals is a woman around my age named Pepa. Whenever anyone changed the subject from what she was talking about a small rain cloud appeared above her head. Based on that, I assume her emotions control the weather. After learning almost everybody else's powers, it was the man sitting next to me's turn. He hasn't said a word all night but he was the one out of all of them that made me the most curious. He stuttered with lots of his words but eventually choked out that his name is Bruno. I kept insisting that he tell me his gift but he just pulls his hood up and looks away.

After dinner, Pepa insists that I take a tour of the house and eventually I agreed. Throughout the tour I couldn't stop thinking about Bruno.. After some time, I managed to sneak away from the tour to talk to Bruno. Bruno seemed shocked that I wanted to talk with him rather than his family members. "Hey! Bruno!" I said in a whisper scream, "I managed to sneak away from Pepas tour!"

Bruno replied quietly, "ah uhm ok.."
I kept trying to spark conversations with him but he wouldn't really connect with any until I stated my favorite animals were rats. After I said this, Bruno's head turned to me in surprise and a small rat popped out of his Poncho. Bruno said enthusiastically after noticing I was excited about him having rats, "I-I can let you hold her if you want!!" I obviously said yes and the cute rat snuggled up to my shoulder. I then begged him to take my to his room after he said he had more rats. After many attempts, he finally said yes. As we were running to his door, I heard Pepa calling me, but I just looked assuringly at Bruno to keep running. Once we entered his room. I saw an hourglass with falling sand. Bruno ran infront of me and held up an arm of his Poncho to clear an area for me to run under without being soaked in sand. I quickly ran through and was amazed at how many stairs there were in that room. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs and thought about if I really wanted to go up these thousands of stairs. Bruno then said, "Come on y/n!"

I then replied, "Alright! Last to the top is a rotten egg! After that it was on.

Eventually we reached the top, Bruno won by a mile, probably because he had so much practice going up those stairs. I was a panting mess once I reached the top. Bruno reached out a hand and helped me stand up at the top of the stairs. My legs were completely numb once I stoop up and I ended up falling onto Bruno. We were both so shocked and he was a blushing stuttering mess. I stood up and helped him up. He then said shyly, "Uh... Do you want to come to my room to see my rats?" I had completely forgotten about why I went up to his room in the first place after falling onto him. I gave him a nod and a smile so he helped me to his room. He let a bunch of rats climb onto his arms for me to see. I pet them and asked him, "Bruno, since we know each other a little better, can you please tell me your gift?"

Bruno shook his head and sighed then said, "Alright, please promise you won't hate me first." I of course agreed and he told me that he could see the future. I then asked, "Why would I hate you for that?"

Bruno replied, " Many people don't like the true future and think I can change it..."

I then said sincerely, " Oh, I promise that if you would tell my future, I would still lo- like you the same..."

"You promise?" He asked.

"Promise." I replied. He grabs my hand takes me to a large cave that we walked through before. He picks up sand and tossed it in the air, his eyes glow green and people start to show up in a sand storm raging around us. I see me in my bed, I see an arm wrapped around me, as the persons face starts to appear the sandstorm stops. A jade tablet appears in Bruno's hands and he's blushing as looking at the tablet then me repeatedly. I asked to see it but Bruno just tosses it off the the ledge I try to catch it but can't. Bruno then starts rushing for me to leave. I was super confused and was asking him what the tablet said, but he just continued to basically shove me down the stairs and once we reach the bottom he shoves me out the door and nervously says, "Bye." As I was leaving the house I saw Pepa glare at me with a thundering cloud above her head.
