Olivia

"Christmas is in three days and I'm flipping my shit Olivia," Maria slams her face into her hands and groans, her drunkenness evident in her slurred words.

I tap my cup of kool-aid on my chin and let my eyes stray over the room.

Ah~I miss Rowan.

"Aiden is obsessed with you. He'd be happy if you gave him a bag of dog shit for Christmas. Stop freaking out," I nudge Maria's knee with mine and her head slips out of her hands.

"I'm meeting his Mom, Liv! His Mother!"

I pick at the rip in my jeans, my foot tapping the floor off beat with the music. Under my breath I mutter, "And I'm meeting Rowan's dad but I'm not throwing a hissy fit."

That's not to say I'm not internally freaking out but at least I had the decency to not subject Maria to it.

"Huh?" Maria groans, rolling her head comically in my direction.

I roll my eyes and look towards where I saw Aiden last. I wave my hand, getting his attention easily. I yell, although it doesn't carry well by how he squints to read my lips, "Come take over babysitting duty, your girlfriend is wasted!"

He smiles and excuses himself from whoever he was talking to, weaving through the crowd and kneeling before Maria, "She have those mixed drinks again?"

"Mhm," I confirm, standing so he can take my seat beside her, "She never learns."

"I told her to stick to beer. The sweet, brightly colored drinks Vik makes are too strong but she can never resist. I should've known better," Aiden chuckles self-deprecatingly, brushing Maria's hair from her face, earning a goofy smile from her.

"Aiden~I wanna have sex," Maria slurs, slipping her hand beneath the hem of his shirt.

She doesn't get far before he pulls her wrist away from him, placing a soft kiss to her knuckles, "Baby, you're drunk. Maybe tomorrow if you don't have a hangover."

She groans and starts to go on a rant of complaints.

It warms my heart, that Maria found someone who isn't with her just so they can chase the next fuck. That's what she wanted too. For a time. But I noticed the moments where she'd let her jealousy for happy couples slip. Now she's the happiest I've ever seen her.

"I'm going to find Rowan. You guys are giving me cavities," I joke, walking away to the sound of Aidens laugh.

Parties were so fun when I was in high school. The thrill of sneaking around behind my family's backs, kissing cute boys and doing stupid things that made me feel invincible. In a way they still are fun but now it's in a different way.

I step out onto the back porch and my chest swells. The muscles in my cheeks strain with my smile.

His eyes flick to me, a similar smile lighting his face but a little more toned down. Just like him. Calm water, warm summer nights. Rowan Vitali.

"Come here, Ollie," his smooth like silk voice calls, his arm shifting to make room for me at his side.

I giggle and bounce over to him, the love sick school girl that I am. I cuddle into his side, my arm wrapping around his waist and our warm bodies fitting together like the perfect puzzle pieces.
