"Ugh, I want to go to school... please~" Lucy attempted to beg Erza with puppy eyes again.
"No."
"Please~"
"No."
"Come on, Erza..."
"Just no."
"Fine!" Lucy pouted and crossed her arms like a little kid. "Remember to collect my homework! Oh, there goes my perfect attendance record..." She muttered the last part. "Sure." Levy replied, poking her head from the door, "Right, bye Lu-chan!"
Lucy moped around the house like a wandering ghost. Even the floor could appease her now, apparently. She glanced at the clock. School's over by now, Levy probably has librarian duties and Erza probably has student council work to do...
Few more hours... of doing nothing.
"Creak..." The window creaked slightly. Lucy looked up from the study table and saw Natsu who apparently jumped in the house through the window! "O JESUS, PRAISE THE LORD, AM I SEEING THINGS?!" Lucy muttered a prayer under her breath, blinking as she dropped her pen.
"*cough* Ahem." Natsu coughed a little, covering his mouth, "I came to visit you, and this is the response? Wow, Luce, wow."
"Hey! This is trespassing!" Lucy came back to her senses and got up from the study chair. "LUCY KICK!" Lucy swiftly launched a kick at Natsu who was already sent flying. "Sorry," Natsu groaned an apology (A/N: Apologizing through groans? Not bad! :P) out of his mouth and rubbed his cheeks.
Seeing Natsu rub his cheeks, Lucy recalled about the accidental kiss they shared. Lucy's cheeks flared up and she looked away. "What?" Natsu asked. "T-the... kiss..." Lucy softly spoke, but could not escape Natsu's sharp ears. "Huh? O-oh! Eto (um)..." Natsu blushed too.
There was an awkward tension between the two of them.
Lucy breathed in. "Well, who cares! I, Lucy Heartfilia, won't be affected by a kiss!"
Natsu smiled. "SAME - I'm all fired up!"
"Yeah!" They said in unison, arms crossing each other's, forming an 'X'.
"Oh yeah, Luce. I got you your homework, Erza sort of forced me to pass this to you..." Natsu fished Lucy's now crumpled worksheets out of his bag. "Did you seriously crumple my worksheets? OH DEAR SIR, YOU ARE SOO DEAD..." A dark aura formed around Lucy. "So dead..." She repeated.
Natsu gulped as he apologized profusely, begging for another chance. Lucy nodded. "Lucky for you, I'm not in the mood right now to kill." Lucy was doing her work when Natsu started poking her.
Poke. Poke, poke. Poke.
"WHAT?!" Lucy screamed out loud, preferably for the whole neighborhood to hear. "Teach me this question..." Natsu asked, frowning at a simple question. "Wow, you don't even know simple times-table! Sigh, I'll have to teach you from scratch..." Lucy drew a times-table chart for Natsu. She leaned in closer, pointing at the eight times-table.
"Natsu, come closer so I can teach you." Lucy requested. Natsu replied, "I'm not a pedophile! I'm not touching you!" Lucy scoffed, "Ahem, who said I'd let YOU touch ME?" Natsu leaned in closer to Lucy and Lucy started teaching Natsu.
"These are natural, it'll come to your head one day. So, you have to memorize it first. Like the eight times-table, watch: 8,16,24,32,40,48,56,64,72,80,88,96..." Lucy pointed and taught Natsu. Natsu nodded as he listened attentively, unconsciously leaning in closer.
Lucy then moved on to the nine times-table. "Now, for this, you can use your fingers. 9x8, your middle finger should be folded and your pinky should be raised. See? So, it is 72. Another trick is, 8 x 10 is 80. What's 80 - 8? 72, answer. Isn't it easy?" Then, she moved on to ten times-table.
"Ten times-table is really easy too, it's always followed by a '0'. See, 10 x 10, 2 zeros, so you bring it over and make it 100, answer. 2 x 10, bring it over and TADA! Answer. It's the same to hundred times-table and thousands, as for decimals..." After long hours, Lucy finally taught Natsu everything on multiplication. She turned her head, not knowing Natsu was behind.
This small movement caused their noses to touch, and their lips too.
Lucy widened her eyes in shock. Second time! She thought as she backed away at the same time as Natsu.
Ba thump. Ba thump.
Her heart started beating faster.
Ba thump. Ba thump.
She felt like she was burning up as she clutched her heart.
Ba thump. Ba thump.
What's happening to me?! Lucy thought, as tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Go away..." Lucy said, so soft Natsu hardly heard her even with his sharp ears. "I'm sorry," Natsu replied, biting his bottom lip. He grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder, leaving through the door for the first time.
Lucy cried, and she could not stop. Why am I crying? Why am I crying? The question tugged at her like a broken record. Twice in the same week, a kiss shared by my enemy. I hate Natsu, why is God tormenting me so much?!
Lucy leaned against the wall as tears kept streaming down her cheeks. "I'm no longer the crybaby whom they knew... I'm the strong Heartfilia... stop crying..." She told herself, but could not control and hold back the tears.
"Lu-chan, we're back-" Levy and Erza opened the door only to see Lucy crying. "What happened, Lucy?!" Erza rushed towards Lucy, whose shoulders were slumped. "I don't know..." Lucy hugged her knees as she sunk her head between the gap in her kneecaps.
Lucy didn't tell them about the accidental kiss she and Natsu shared. Twice. She told them she just watched a sad television drama and they bought it...
It was nighttime. Lucy could hear the crickets, the cicadas buzzing. She can't sleep. She grazed her lips softly as she blinked the tears out of her eyes. She wanted her first kiss to be special, not from her enemy...
That day, she cried herself to sleep.
