Y/n's POV
I woke up on the floor next to a rat that ran into a crack in the wall when it saw me open my eyes. I must have fallen out of my bed in the night. The rat must have been looking for food in my room. Poor thing.
"Y/n! Are you awake?! Come on, we have to go to the village and assist with the decorations for Antonio's gift ceremony!" Camilo exclaimed through the door.
"I'm up! Let me get dressed first jeez" I laugh out loud as I hear Abuela calling Camilo downstairs.

Once dressed, I slide down the banister and nearly fall. Casita catches me as it stretches out one of the railings from the stairs . "Gracias, Casita" I say in a hushed voice. Just as I pull myself back up, Camilo comes around the corner and asks what took me so long. "I was getting ready like I said?" As I walk over to Camilo, he complements my outfit and says how well it matches my e/c eyes.
"Since when did you give me nice compliments?" I ask "Since today. Anyway, I was thinking. What if later on I shift into...." He trails on as he tells me an idea on how to get more food for the 5th time this week (btw it's Tuesday. Why is he so hungry all the time?) I laugh under my breath at the thought, interrupting his 'great' plan.

Abuela shouts me to go outside but as I'm about to leave Camilo's side he walks the other way and turns into another room.
I walk down to the town and help. Abuela hands me a few bricks as i lift them over to a house and help lay them down. I see Camilo not so far away rocking a creepy looking baby letting a lady sleep on a bench next to him. Cute..
Just then Abuela calls us for dinner and I race Antonio back to the house before we get back and sit on the steps waiting for Camilo. Just then a few kids run up the bridge asking what Mirabel's gift was. Abuela shouts at here which catches my attention.
"Mirabel was just about to tell us about her super amazing gift!" A small girl who looked hyper yelled, pointing at Mirabel.
I sighed sadly for a moment as I saw Mirabel look over at Abuela in slight sadness. Just then however, Camilo came up to me from behind and made me jump. I screamed loudly as he laughed and changed into me doing an impression of my screaming, Mirabel looking over slightly concerned but laughing all the same.
Once inside Antonio runs up the stairs and goes into his and Mirabel's room shutting the door behind him.
"The poor little guy must be nervous. I mean lets be honest. Last gift ceremony was a bummer" Camilo turns to me as I speak and frowns.
"Can't imagine how Mirabel is..." He claims after he looks up to her on the stairs talking to Alma (Abuela).
I move some of Camilo's hair from his face as i blush slightly; what is this feeling? It's like I've known him my whole life but just now I'm starting to.... No, I'm getting ahead of myself.
I look at Camilo as he looks back at me with his big hazel / brown eyes. I never noticed it before.. his eyes.. they're like dirt? No.. a delicate chocolate that melts in your mouth.. I blush at the thought as Pepa walks over and interrupts us.
"Camilo, you need to help with the decorations!" A cloud appears over her head as she gets nervous / anxios. "And y/n, you need to go and do your hair properly.. come here"
Pepa pulls me into her room to do my messy h/l h/c hair. She sits me down on a chair next to her dresser which is along side a box filled with umbrellas and sun screen. Sometimes i feel sorry for Pepa. She deserves a gift that isn't a dark cloud above her head.
When she has finished my hair, I leave the room and go downstairs where I see Isabela putting flowers on each of the banisters. "They look beautiful 'Bela! (Her nickname)" I say absolutely speechless. I often forget how absolutely outstanding the Madrigals are. I look over to Luisa to see her lifting fences in place for the donkeys outside.
Just as i was about to go and find Antonio to check up on him, Mirabel walked past me going up to her room. I heard her muttering something. Sounds like someone has him covered.. I smile under my breath.
"Y/n! I've been looking for you everywhere!" A familiar voice calls me. It's Abuela? "What are you doing? We need someone to help Julieta with the food in the kitchen. Can you be good and" I cut her off
"Of course! I'll be right there Abuela" I say whilst I hold Almas hands and smile, making my way there. On the way to the kitchen I bump into Deloris.
"oh, hola y/n. This is exiting isn't it?" She smiles as she dusts something off her dress. "hmm"
I smile and nod looking behind her seeing the kitchen. After she walks away i go in there to see Julieta rushing around making Arepas. "Want a hand?" I say. "Please" as she looks to me smiling with flour on her apron. I throw one on and start helping.

Third person POV
At the start of the ceremony when people start arriving y/n is sat next to the doors of the house reading an old book whilst Camilo is greeting people changing into them as they walk in. Luisa is also helping them off their donkeys and putting the donkeys carefully into the fenced off area she prepared earlier.
Inside, Isabela is giving the small children daisy chain crowns and flower necklaces. Abuela is talking with Julieta about Mirabel, Pepa is looking for Antonio, Mirabel is with Antonio, Deloris is in her room preparing herself for the fireworks and Felix is with Agustin talking about Antonio.

Y/n's POV
"Camilo, we should go inside now, I don't think anyone else is coming" Camilo walks up to me and turns into a big strong man helping me up. I laugh as he hands me his hand pulling me into the house giggling mischievously.
When we're inside we go and find Felix, Pepa, Deloris and Alma with Antonio. I stand over in the crowd as I don't want to intrude. I get that I've been part of the family since I was only five years old. I just feel as though it's wrong to be with them on such a special day.
Camilo comes up to me after being with Antonio as Deloris follows him and stands beside us. I saw Deloris as a big sister. She's always been there for me. Camilo grabs my waist slightly which catches me off guard.
Antonio walks up the isle with Mirabel and approaches his door. He says a few things to Alma before he holds the candle and then goes up to his door and holds the handle. In a second the door lit up and a bird flew onto Antonio's wrist. It said a few things before a flock of the same bird flew in through the roof! I was amazed. The fireworks started to sound as me and Camilo celebrated!
In a few minutes everyone had ventured into Antonio's room. He was running around riding a leopard with birds flying around him sounding like a flock of cawing crows.
Just then Abuela made everyone go and take a photo with Antonio for his new gift. Everyone surrounded Abuela apart from me and Mirabel who stayed aside.
Everyone danced and sung to the music in his room when Julieta came up to me after seeing Mirabel leave the room. "Can you go check on her for me. She needs someone right now" when she finished she got pulled away to dance with her triplet, Pepa (Bruno rn 🧍🏽♂️).
Y/n nodded and went after Mirabel. When they got to the bottom of the stairs however, they saw Mirabel holding what looked like a tile of Casita. "Mirabel?..." I walked up to her to see that she had cut her hand. As I was about to say something the house started to....
