Tokoyami woke up to bright lights, a monotone beeping, and a searing pain in his left leg. He pushed himself up and looked around to try and get his bearings. On the other side of the hospital room, it had to be a hospital,\; nowhere else had heart monitors and IVs, was Bakugou, laying grumpily in bed with Midoriya and Todoroki by his side. The three spoke quietly amongst themselves, and Tokoyami let the hushed chatter fill his mind as he tried to remember what brought him to such a place.

The weapon smuggling ring, that was it. The stakeout had confirmed that they had the right building, so sometime around midnight, they began the raid. Endeavor's agency attacked at the front and drew out most of the criminals, just as planned. Tokoyami had snuck in the back with the rest of Hawks' agency to catch the criminals off guard. Things had gone successfully until the very end, some hour and a half later.

Tokoyami had heard a low ticking noise over the shouting and gunfire of the fight. Thin wires ran along the rafters of the building, and from there, the noise emanated. The building had been rigged with explosives; there was no way someone hadn't already triggered the destruction sequence. Just as Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to amplify his voice and warn the others, something hit his leg. His vision whited out with pain, and he briefly registered pain as he struggled to keep control of Dark Shadow.

From there, Tokoyami's memory became hazy. He recalled heroes leaving the building, evacuating most likely, and he tried to leave with them. It was difficult to walk, though, and the pain in his leg flared with every movement, which made Dark Shadow more and more erratic. He must have lost control because, at some point, he stopped trying to move, and instead, Dark Shadow battered around the few fleeing criminals that remained and dragged them back into the building and away from exits. Then, a deafening bang, a bright light, searing heat, ringing ears, immense pressure, difficulty breathing, darkness, and nothing.

Tokoyami shook himself back to reality, aware that his friends were staring at him. The heart rate monitor beeped faster, and Tokoyami focused on it until it slowed back to a more acceptable pace. "I am alright, worry not." Tokoyami didn't actually know if he was alright, medically speaking, but he wanted to reassure his friends as best he could.

Todoroki nodded grimly, "I am glad to know you are safe; thanks to your warning everyone else managed to evacuate without major injury."

"Well, everyone but you and Kacchan, anyway," Midoriya mumbled, still half fussing over Bakugou.

"Yes, what on earth happened to you, Bakugou?" Tokoyami couldn't help but be concerned, the explosive blond had his right arm in a cast, and the side of his head was heavily bandaged.

"Kacchan had to counteract some of the explosion with a blast of his own so some of us could get out in time, but he got hit with some stray rubble." Midoriya flinched at the glare Bakugou sent him, "A-ah! Don't feel bad though, Kacchan, it was super heroic and cool!"

"Shut the hell up, shitty nerd." Bakugou snapped at Midoriya but still nodded to Tokoyami, as if to confirm the freckled boy's story.

Tokoyami would have lied to have asked more, but a commotion outside the door disrupted his train of thought. Although it was muffled by the door, someone was obviously arguing with one of the doctors.

"-sir, you really must return to your own room, you aren't fully recovered, and I cannot condone you leaving your room." The doctor seemed more than a little nervous to scold whoever he was speaking with but stood their ground.

"And I told you, I don't care! My little brother is in there, and I need to see him." Tokoyami could hear Hawks' voice grow more and more urgent as he continued to argue with the doctor.
