I stared at him for what seemed like forever with my mouth opened and my eyebrows knitted together. The blond boy stared at me as well but with a small smile and a bashful posture. The girls around me sighed in awe and the boys complimented him to themselves on how "brave" he was for making this move. Sylvia pushed me softly and when I turned to look at her, she had a huge smile on her face. Looking back at Scorpius, I crossed my arms and looked down at the floor.
"No," I answered.
The corridor went silent. Slowly, I looked up to see Scorpius's smiling face turn to one of utter embarrassment. I could tell this wasn't the answer he expected to hear.
"Unbelievable," Someone muttered behind me.
"What a bitch," An upperclassman whispered so that I could hear.
"What?" Scorpius asked through gritted teeth.
"No," I replied more clearly.
I felt my voice shake when I answered and my eyes started to get damp. The Slytherin boy walked a couple of steps towards me but I turned around and started to run away from the huge crowd that thought I was a bitch.
I ran and ran until I reached the Durmstrang dorm rooms. My classmates greeted me with a smile but when they saw that I was crying, they asked what was wrong. I told them to leave me alone as I locked my door to my room. I jumped to my bed and put the pillow onto my head. I wasn't crying anymore but I was so angry.
Does Malfoy really think that he could just ask me to the Yule Ball in front of the whole school and think that will just make everything okay? I left Hogwarts because of him! I would've been with my cousins, playing Quidditch, visiting Hogsmeade, stressing about OWLS and talking about boys! But I had to move to Durmstrang because I couldn't stand being bullied and being called a Mudblood on a daily basis. It was all because of him! Of course, Durmstrang is an amazing school but you can't compare the schools. We're about the Dark Arts and Hogwarts is about family (at least, from what I've heard from Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny).
There was a knock on my door but I didn't reply. There were more knocks but then they just came in anyways. I looked up and saw Sylvia, Gretchen and Bradley walk in the room with a sympathetic smile.
"Hey, Dae," Bradley greeted, sitting on the corner of my bed. Sylvia and crawled onto my bed next to me and put their arms around me. He continued, "How are you?"
I shrugged. "I feel like shit."
"Don't curse," Sylvia chuckled. "It doesn't sound good when it comes out of your mouth."
I shrugged again. "Now everyone thinks I'm a bitch and now Scorpio is going to hate me forever and Frances will probably know about this and will hate me because I ruined the reputation of our duo."
"I don't think you're a bitch, Dae," Bradley said. "I think you did the right thing. If you didn't want to go, you shouldn't go. You shouldn't feel forced to go with someone."
"Are you guys going with someone?"
"I'm going with Travis," Sylvia said.
"And I'm going with Robert," Gretchen replied.
"I thought you are Bradley were-,"
"We stayed friends," Gretchen and Bradley said at the same time.
"It'll be easier."
I smiled and laid down in my bed. Gretchen and Sylvia laid down next to me while Bradley laid down on our legs.
"Thanks, guys," I said after a while of a comfortable silence.
"You're welcome. We're here for you," Bradley answered.
