Chapter One: The Proposal

Tatum's POV

I sigh as I hang up on the 5th funeral home in a row that don't have the type of casket that we want for my grandmother, I sigh and text my mother about this idiot that suggested a green casket

A green fucking casket

Me: Another bust...nothing is perfect and it's irritating

Mommy🥺❤️👸🏾: Tatum please relax, we will find one for her that is what she'd want

I sigh and respond back before sliding my phone back into my pocket and look out the window of Ben's office, this planning is stressful and sad no matter your royal status, I just hope Evie is being safe on the Isle

"Tatum Rachel Eudora James I am angry with you" I hear behind me causing me to jump and turn around to see Ben walking in angrily

"Ok first why did you have to say my government name and second what are you and about" I say nonchalantly

"How you failed to tell me that our grandmother died" He says and I can see the hurt in his eyes, I sigh and run my hands over my face

Ben was just as close to my grandmother as I was and I knew he'd be pissed that I didn't tell him

"Ben I'm sorry.....I just didn't know how to tell you or anyone really" I say and his face softens, he walks over to me and hugs me tightly as I do the same to him and try to hold my tears in

"Come one Tatum let it out.....you can't be strong for everyone" He says and that triggered the floodgates to open instantly, i sob into his neck as I release all the unshod tears I have

I haven't cried once since I was told my grandmother passed away and I've been trying to remain strong as well as all the distractions going on around that time

We stand there for what felt like a hour before I finally calm down and pull away from him, he smiles sadly at me as he wipes his own tears

"So.....I'm guessing the calls your been getting and taking are for the funeral.....how's your mom and dad" He says and I sigh and sit in his chair

"They're hanging in there, my mom is crushed I mean, my grandmother motivated her to work just like my late grandfather and she was there for everything......can't imagine life without her" I say and Ben nods

"Anyway....I don't wanna talk about this anymore......how is the VK day going" I say and Ben shrugs

"I'm guess it's going good since they haven't said much but I wanna ask....are you sure you wanna see Dr.Facilier's daughter I mean are you ready" Ben asks for the hundredth time causing me to groan and roll my eyes

"Yes I'm ready.....I can't live in fear forever and plus she's just like Mal,Carlos,Jay and Evie...she's innocent as far as her father comes and she deserves to be in a better place" I say and Ben nods but gives me a knowing look

"Just making sure since you were so shaken up when we were kidnapped" He says and I nod

"I'll be fine" I say confidently.....I'll be fine with her here, as long as he doesn't try anything

I adjust my tie as Evie and I walk hand and hand to the press conference thing that Ben is running right now

"Baby leave the tie alone" Evie says as she stops us and stands in front of me, she fixes my tie and I just stare into her eyes and smile at her as she finishes and puts her hands on my chest

We stare into each other's eyes and I can't help but get worked up at how beautiful she is, my eyes move down to her lips then back to her eyes and I see she's doing the same
