Chapter Five: The Ex and Deadbeat

Tatum's POV

I walk up to the lair with Mal with no problem, I look to her and she looks worried and a little hesitant

"It's gonna be ok.....he misses you more than you know" I say causing her to look at me

"Wait...you know" She says surprised

"I used to come here when Dr.Facilier was out doing god knows what....he talked about his little girl that he rarely saw and how her momma was insane" I say causing Mal to chuckle

"Well let me see for myself" She says as Celia opens the gate and we walk in, I look for the dog he has and walk silently, the dogs bark which startles Mal a bit

We get on this janky bike and ride further in with some helmets on and dogs barking in the back as we go more into it until we gone to the end and see Hades napping on the couch

We walk quietly in not to wake him as we spot the ember, Mal goes and walks around till she's right by her father

Celia stops the record of dogs barking causing him to wake up, i instantly jump out of few and quietly past a curtain

"What are you doing here" He says as he raises his head and looks at Celia, I peek my head and watch Mal but soon he catches her had before she can grab the ember

He turns and looks at Mal directly as he takes the ember from her, I sigh and come out to where Celia is

"Hi dad" Mal says causing Celia to look at her crazy

Hades takes off his glasses and waves to her subtly

"Quite the show you put on the other day and thank you Tatum for pushing me like that I appreciate it" Hades says causing me to roll my eyes

"Your welcome.....Fire lord" I say sarcastically

"Right back at you" Mal says in the same tone as him

Hades and Mal interact more as I just walk around his lair, it looks the same as it did when I was rescued, a bit bluer but the same non the less

"And Tatum.....I hear your dating Evie.....congratulations, I knew you had a think for the color blue" He says and I laugh a little

"Yea I totally do....but you know no hard feelings since well my favorite color is still green and will forever be green" I say causing him to give me a fake smile and turn back to his daughter

I watch Hades argue about him being a deadbeat and him being a GOD, Mal asks for the ember and well Hades being dramatic...he busts into song

I laugh and sit back as I watch them sing with each other and Celia and I give background vocals and laugh at the daddy issues line

The song ends and I look at Hades and I can tell he wants to be there for his daughter, he's been too prideful to see Maleficent but he grew a bond with me so he's capable of it

"Do you wanna make up for being a bad dad....give me the ember" Mal says

"Come on Hades...it's not to punish you" I say causing him to look at me then to Mal

"The ember only works for me" He says causing me to sigh

"No it will work for me, we're blood" Mal says

"Your only half Hades, the ember won't do everything for you like it does for me" He says seriously

"I'll take my chances" Mal says with her hand still out

Hades hesitates before giving her the ember, Celia and I follow Mal but I stop and look at Hades

"Just.....be patient man...let me talk to her" I say and he nods as he watches us leave
