Tears of Home- Chapter 2

I was born with a rare genetic disorder. I had Alexandra's Genesis. This meant my eyes would switch colors between piercing blue and amythest purple.

This made many people quite wary of me because I mean come on, would you think it normal for someone to be switching eye color every second day?!

This altogether made it hard for me to make friends. However, when I moved it seemed that though some people still unsure, many others were not bothered by this.

One such person was Raina Lancaster. I met her on my first day of school.

I rushed through the door into the science lab. I was late... again. I had already been late for English and Music. 'Late for three classes in one day, that's a new record for me,' I thought.I stood awkwardly in the doorway, not really sure where to go. Awkward seemed to be my new stance, though I usually had somewhere to go, and quickly too. I was so absorbed in my thinking that I didn't hear the teacher address me the first time."Miss..." "DuBois. Cara DuBois,", I said. I heard someone giggle in the back of the room. " Well Miss doboos, would you care to explain to the class why you are late?", the teacher boomed, becoming the fifth teacher to mispronounce my name today. I winced, he was very loud and he was standing right beside my ear."Well..sir, it's my first day here and I got a bit lost. Sorry sir." "Why didn't you say so? I'll give you your seat now just wait a minute" He went off to consult his seating plan and I was left in front of the whole class who were scrutinising me. I thanked god that I had blue eyes that day.They might seem too piercingly blue but they weren't as strange as purple!

I had worn skinny jeans and a top,just to be on the safe side I mean where could you go wrong with jeans?! I had put my hair in a fish-tail plait but it still reached down my back. My mum used to call me Rapunzel when I was younger. She loved to braid designs and twirls in it.I'm not very good at that sort of thing. I usually leave it loose so the red,wavy locks reach down to my waist. I wasn't wearing my glasses and though it made it harder to see, it was worth it if I made the right first impression.

"Ah let's see here, you can sit beside Miss. Lancaster over by the window." The teacher had obviously remembered I existed and decided to save me from everyone's staring eyes. I looked over to where he was pointing and started towards the empty seat.

On the way there, I found myself looking at the girl who I would be sitting beside; 'Miss Lancaster'. She was a thin girl with a willowy build. She had platinum blonde hair, wavy like mine but not quite as long. Her riveting green eyes focused on me as I reached the desk. "H-hi," I stuttered nervously. "Hello" she replied.She talked like she was in a dream and had a hint of an Irish accent. "I'm Raina" "I'm Cara" " I know...here we're doing chemistry".

After the lesson, I sought her out."Thanks for helping me out" "It's no problem really, Father always taught me to be kind." "Okay, well... I'll see you later, I guess." I started to walk away."Wait,Cara"she called after me."Do you want to have lunch with me?" "Um yeah sure" I replied,confused as to why she would want to be seen with the new kid."Come on, follow me I'll show you the way." With that, she proceeded to bring me to the cafeteria.

When we got to the cafeteria we split up to get food.when I had my tray full I turned around to look for Raina. I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder."Hey Raina!," I said. She stared back at me blankly."who are you exactly?" "Umm...you don't remember?" She shook her head."I've never seen you before." I was completely confused. "We just had science together!" Before she could answer someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around to find....Raina.I looked between the two girls,trying to figure it out when Raina said"I see you've met my sister.Cara this is Ruth, my twin sister..." Ruth cut across her"Actually we're triplets and I hate my name so just call me Rue OK?" "Uh, ok."
"And here comes the third wheel," Raina commented looking over my shoulder.I turned around. "That's our brother," Rue pointed out."Also our triplet," Raina butted in. I could tell him out, even if they hadn't pointed him out. He had the same blonde hair,cropped short and sea-green eyes.Which were looking straight at me. I hadn't realised I was staring. I turned my gaze to floor,blushing before turning to look at the girls who were smiling at me.
"So should we go eat now?", one of them asked,pointly changing the subject. They had moved and I couldn't tell which was which now. "Sure", I said.As we walked over to a table one of the girls whispered in my ear,"His name's Ronan.And he's not taken." I blushed again."Why do you think I need to know that?" I asked, laughing nervously.They gave each other a look, before sitting down on either side of me."So then,tell us a bit about yourself," Rue,no Raina asked me. Damn, I'd really have to learn to tell them apart soon.

That was 4 years ago. Let's skip ahead to where I am now, the night before my 16th birthday. This is where the real story begins.
