The elder kids returned and Damian jumped up and ran to the window. Why are they back? Damian wondered.

Bruce came out to greet them. They were ALL hoping that that would not be the case, because Dick couldn't drive because of his finger, Jason wasn't allowed to under any circumstances, Tim only had his learner's permit, Barbara's Dad was strict and overprotective (which meant NO to driving other people's cars), and Rose was still high.

Who drove? Tim.

Bruce crossed his arms as Tim got out of the car.

Dick raised his bandaged hand, which left a temporarily splinted middle finger, sticking up.

"I can explain."

A heavy sigh. "What did you do?" Bruce asked his older boys as the girls placed themselves around the front lounge.

Dick explained that he sprained his finger and couldn't drive. He took an over-the-counter painkiller from Barbra's purse and felt a little better, but mostly just needed ice.

"So?" Bruce said. "Anything else?"

"No, sir." Jason said as smoothly as a high person could. Tim rolled his eyes and agreed with Jason. Nothing else had happened.

"You're free to go."

The boys left and Damian came bounding over in the underwear of his uniform. His outer layers were still in the Cave. He hated wearing his uniform without the bulletproof red tunic and boots. He felt just like a tiny Nightwing. A tiny, half-naked Nightwing.

"Father, are we ready?"

"Yes, Damian." He said.

He walked behind the clock and got down to the Cave floor, where Damian was already strapped into the BatBooster seat.

It was nearing midnight.

"Let's take off." Bruce said, engaging the engine.

"3......2........1......"

"HAPPY NEW YEAR CRIMINALS! I'M GOING TO MURDER YOU!" Damian shouted, pointing at the clock on the dashboard.

Bruce sighed. "Damian-"

"Yeah, yeah, justice not vengeance."

Dick leaned in. Jason leaned in. Tim leaned in.

Happily, everyone's phone chimed and the couples kissed, gently.

"Happy New Year, Babs." Dick Grinned.

"Happy New Year." Barbara Gordon returned.

"Let's make this year a good one." Tim laughed. "For our sake."

"Yes." Steph agreed.

Jason rested his forehead Rose's. He whispered in her ear. "Let's blow this joint and smoke another."

Rose laughed. "Will Daddy know?"

Jason smirked. "He has no clue."

Rose shrugged. "Ok."

---

Damian was looking out by a water tower over 32nd street. "Dad, why does Todd always smell like pot?"

Bruce laughed. "Because he doesn't know I know."

---

Rose leaned forward for Jason to light the end of the freshly rolled joint. "You sure your dad doesn't know."

"Positive."

---

"You SURE he doesn't know that you know?" Damian pressed again.

Bruce took down his binoculars. "Positive."
