Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are
As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

"What the hell?!" I pull out my earbud looking towards my bedroom door to see Peter standing there smiling.

"I knocked, I called your name, and you still didn't hear me." He comes into my room.

"So you throw a barely drunken water bottle at me?" I turn my music off.

"How else would I get your attention?" Peter jumps onto my bed.

"Come up to my bed, get into my view so I know you're here. Why are you here?" I asked, gathering my stuff on my bed to put up.

"Am I not allowed to see my best friend?" He leans back onto me.

"You can but I was just wondering."

"Well you didn't go to school today." I finally noticed his face was slightly swollen.

"Did Flash do this?" I make him sit up.

"You ignored my question." He says as I pull his hood off.

"You ignore mine too." I cross my arms.

"You know he did so asking was dumb." I nod my head agreeing with him.

"Why didn't you go?" He asks and I try not to cry again like I've been doing all day.

Peter looks over at what I was drawing and his face drops, pulling me into a hug. "I can't believe I forgot." He rubs my back making me cry into his chest.

A year ago I saw my father kill himself when he took us on a camping trip. It was to celebrate my mom's birthday because she used to love camping. We ended up losing her a few months before her birthday in a car accident.

My father was having a much harder time than I was trying to get back to normal without her. On the trip I woke up hearing my dad leave his tent but I thought he just had to use the bathroom. When I knew he was taking too long I got out of my tent to go look for him.

Luckily but not at the same time I followed his footprints in the mud to a old zip line tree platform. I remember looking up to see his back side before he jumped.

In the moment I was in pure shock seeing my father just hanging there. The jump was so high that the rope just snapped his neck.

I'm sure I stood there frozen for a good amount of time before letting out a horrific scream making nearby campers run to see what had happened.

The first person to reach me was a man about the same age as my father. He covered my eyes and as a couple came running up he told them to take me to my parents.

The couple kept asking me where my parents and I just remembered crying into the woman's chest pointing my arm back and up at the tree. She asked about my mother and I shook my head no.

From the campsite to the police station I didn't remember much. Everything was just blurry till my aunt from my dad's side came and picked me up.

Even though my life was now terrible, I tried to think positive that she moved into our place so I could still be home. She didn't want to move me away from Peter since he was all I had left.

"I'm gonna go home real quick to let Aunt May and Uncle Ben know I'm gonna spend the rest of the day with you. Okay?" Peter says into my hair.

"You don't have to come back." I wipe my tears away.
