The geezer didn't die.
Someone from the medical field was able to get to the Italian Freya attacked at Sabini's club. She was acting out on anxious nerves for no reason. She relied on Tommy to question her sudden silence, but he never did it in front of the other two boys in the back seat.
Once the boys were dropped out, Freya was able to replace her flat cap for the curious lacing of the wind's fingers through her dark locks. They helped eased her nerves but she couldn't shake the feeling.
Tommy waited until they were alone to bring up her strange silence. Tommy questioned her with half-lidded eyes as the late day and ale hit his body. "What's got your knickers in a twist, eh? Is this about that wanker from Sabini's? Because if it is, you shouldn't worry. You've killed people before, Sister."
"It's not that," she sighed, taking the remaining swig from the bottle in her brother's hand. "There were too many people there... and with the expansion in London, who's to say someone won't narc, you know?"
His reassuring words, their conversation, it didn't mean much though because she was worried for nothing. The man was fine and there was no reason to fuck with a Peaky Blinder over a little assault.
However, even as the news infiltrated her from the newspaper at her front doorstep just as the sun awoke, the nervousness and fear came back when she arrived at Shelby Company Limited.
No one had seen Tommy since the night before. After Freya was dropped off, the last to see him was Lizzie but even that was brief. Lizzie said he didn't stay. When she woke up, he was nowhere to be seen.
Alarms went off in Freya's head, and her brothers and Polly were not far behind.
She and Arthur both agreed that John should stay with Polly to get some work done at the company. If Tommy was in trouble, the business should be able to continue to thrive nonetheless. He was but one man, the company was many men and women.
Freya gathered her skirts and quickly joined Arthur in her car. They were driving down the road, turning and peering into alleyways, keeping their eyes out for blood on the ground or even on the goddamn brick walls.
When the streets of Birmingham were cleared by both their sights, they knew someone was to have him. The on;y problem was, they didn't know where to look.
They went to Sabini's club all the way in London with cruelty in their eyes. Arthur threatened men who worked for Sabini but no one budged. So, Arthur was able to put in a punch before making an extravagant exit.
Freya remained in the car, ready to run in case things went bad but when Arthur came back with a reddened face and harsh expression, all she could do was feel the anxiety swell.
After telling her why he was cradling his hand like a baby and came back short of breath, she scolded him. Arthur and Freya were never the closest. There was a chart Gypsies followed over the recent years. If the six-year age gap wasn't enough to make them despise one another, the slightly believable charts of their bloodline explained a lot more.
Fire never mixed well with water. Even further beyond fact, Pagans and Taoists, who often brushed shoulders with the gypsies of her family in the past, connected people with the elements of the earth.
Being born in late summer, Arthur was quite fiery and headstrong. He was a great protector and leader, but his head got so hot sometimes that he would threaten to explode around anyone with a larger flame.
Being born in late autumn, Freya was incapable of turning away from things that caught her eye. She secretly led with the heart whereas Arthur led with his head or fist. She observed everything and Arthur acted out on everything. They were quite the opposite. Only, it was endearing to know the fire from him would fizzle her water and her water would contain his fire.
