Love and War

After Ezra's mother left we just sat in silence on his couch. An old movie was playing and we were both pretending to watch it. I sat on one end of the couch and him on the other.

He grabbed the remote and muted the TV. "Aria we need to talk about this." He said leaning towards me. I leaned farther away than I was before.

"No Ezra I don't think we do." I say turning back to the TV.

"Aria..." He began to say.

"No Ezra! How am I supposed to know that you won't go off and take whatever bribe your mother gives you! How do I know I won't be all alone with my baby in the end! How do I know!" I yelled at him.

"Our baby Aria. Not yours. Not mine. Ours. I'm not leaving. I guess you can't know for a fact that I wont. But I don't know you won't either. So all we have is trust." I lean over and kiss his cheek.

I wrap my arms around his neck into a hug and whisper, "But what if that's not enough."

Then I walk away.
