Chapter XIV

Wednesday starts normal, we meet up outside before the bell rings, we talk, the first half of the morning goes fine. Until in third hour when I'm called down to the office and am told to bring my stuff with me.  That's never good.

A voice comes on the loudspeaker in our classroom, "Killua Zoldyck to the office with materials."

Uh oh.

Everybody 'ooh's at me like I'm in trouble, I don't understand why I would be in trouble. I have never gotten detention or suspended, let alone expelled. I've only gotten yelled at by Ms. Krueger. So I'd say I'm a pretty good student.

I grab my stuff and go to my locker. I shove my stuff in my backpack and throw it over my shoulders and walk to the main office.

"You called?" I say peeking my head into the office, the secretary looks at me from her computer screen. "Your Mom is here to pick you up."

Why would Mom pick me up from school? It must be important.

I exit the school's front doors and walk up to a white and black pickup truck and clamber into the backseat and set my backpack into the seat beside me and buckle up. Mom pulls away from the school and into the road and starts driving home.

"Why'd you pick me up from school?" I ask anxiously. I could think of a million reasons why, and most of them aren't good.

"Because we're taking the day off to spend time with your sister," Mom says slowing down to a stop at a stoplight.

"Wait, Alluka's home?  I thought she would come home later."

"She's making a very quick recovery, and the doctors say she can come home now."

This is great news!  Now I can spend the rest of my day with my beloved little sister!  Wait...  What about my date with Gon tonight?  I'll have to ask Mom.

"Hey, Mom.  I know I'm supposed to be with Alluka all day, but I have a date scheduled tonight.  Do you think I could still go?"

"Oh, wow.  You have a date." Mom says with a chuckle as she pulls into the driveway. "That's something you're going to have to ask Alluka."

Mom parks the car and I get out and kick off my shoes on the shoe mat by the door and drop my backpack off in my room before heading downstairs, in search of Alluka.

"Alluka!" I call out, I hear running and am almost tackled down to the ground, but I maintain my balance.

"Woah!" I say as Alluka hugs me tightly, I ruffle her hair and smile. "Easy there, tiger!"

Alluka smiles and giggles as she looks up and me.

"So, what's the plan, Stan?" I ask Alluka, knowing that I probably have a long day ahead of me.

"Well, I was thinking that we could go shopping at the mall, and then we could go out for ice cream, and then we could stay home and watch movies for the rest of the night."

"I might not be able to watch movies."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm going out with a couple of friends and I have a date..." I say guiltily.  I feel so bad for doing this, maybe we can reschedule the date. "It's totally up to you, I don't have to go-"

"Who's your date?"

"Gon."

"Oh, okay.  I'll let you off of the hook THIS time." Alluka wiggles her eyebrows and lets go of me, looks like I have my schedule filled for today.

"When do you want to leave-"

"Now."

"Right now?"

"Yes."
