Chapter 4 : Human Child

Knocking is heard from across the room. Loud and rushing knocks. Which disturbs both April and Johnny who have been awoken by those annoying sounds. But they repeat, again and again. Opening slightly one eye, April can see that it's still dark. So it must be already night. She doesn't want to get up, but if those knocks are going to keep going, then she might feel obligated to open up. She tries to ignore the sounds, Johnny is trying to forget the sounds, but no use. April sighs, slowly starting to move away from her husband's hugging grip and trying to get up. Johnny tries to hold her to not get up, not willing to make her move just for some random person in the middle of the night.

"Johnny?", April mumbles sleepily, "I have to open them up...."

"No....", he mutters back.

"Come on.", April wriggles around to free herself.

"They'll come back tomorrow. It's too early for this.", Johnny insists.

"A few more knocks, and I'll honestly feel nervous. Please let me.", April groans.

Johnny grunts annoyed, but let's slowly go off her. April walks out of the room, her balance hard to keep up because of her being tired and still feeling weak. She walks towards the entrance door and opens up. To her surprise, it's Sulley and Mike, who seem both pale and sweaty, with anxious gazes. She stares sleepily at them.

"Don't tell me Waternoose fired you....", April asks out, rubbing her eyes.

"No but it's even worse.", Mike says, walking past her, "Let us in."

"Wha-", April gets stunned by the sudden attitude, but keeps whispering to not annoy Johnny who's still in the room, "Hey! You're bursting in my house. It's 2 AM in the morning, my husband and I are sleeping and you-"

"Sorry, April.", Sulley whispers, gritting his teeth awkwardly while transporting something he's hiding with one arm and another thing with the other.

Which is a big sofa. And it makes a lot of noise as it is sliding on the wooden floor of the house. April stares at it in confusion.

"Ok, what is happening in here?!", she gets agitated, not liking the whole commotion in here.

"First, we are sorry.", Sulley starts, looking at an impatient Mike who's thumping his foot nervously, "At least, I am. Second, before you start screaming, you need to promise me you will listen to me and not panic."

April stares blankly at him.

"What?", she mutters.

"Please?", Sulley pleads, his hands' palms against each other.

"Okay? But make it quick. I wanna sleep.", April crosses her arms, expecting a response out of him and Mike.

Sulley then sighs, slowly uncovering the arm he was using to hide something and revealing what he was holding, other than the sofa. At first, she would have guessed it would be something broken. Like a graffiti picture she offered him and Mike. Or maybe a pet they wanted to show her. Or maybe they have stolen something. What could be anything else than this? It can't possibly be a-

"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!", April starts screaming, backing off and stumbling on a chair and falling off on the floor, hitting her head.

Still she continues to back off on her four limbs, looking with terror at the thing Sulley is holding. He however tries to hush her down.

"Shhh. Calm down, please. There's no need to be scared.", he whispers.

"Get that human kid away from me! Out of the house! Now!", April shouts.

The child looks a little confused by April's sudden reaction. Mike walks towards Sulley and groans.

"Look Sulley, pointing that thing right at April's face isn't helping the situation here.", he scowls.
