Scarlet
Jay pulled away slowly, opening his eyes to look at me. My mouth was open, wide eyes. I pulled away from Jay, yanking my hands close to my body.
"I...I got to go. Sorry. Bye." I ran out the bakery, heart pounding in my chest. I could barely catch a breath. I heard Jay call my name, but I ignored him. I weaved through the crowd, trying to get away. I finally reached the doors and yanked them open. Cold air rushed in my face, but I didn't care. I had to go. I had to leave.
"Scarlet! Scarlet come back!" Jay yelled, stopping the door from shutting behind me. I stood in the parking lot, trying to control my breathing and running a hand through my hair. "Scarlet what was that?"
"Nothing." I croaked out. "It was nothing. Let's just forget about it. I have to go."
I started to walk but Jay grabbed my wrist. I looked at him, tears coming to the brim. "Scarlet-"
"No! Just stop Jay, just stop. It was nothing. Just another moment. We were in close proximity with slow song and a dimmed room. It was bound to happen between anyone."
"Yeah, but it happened between us. I don't know about you, but that wasn't just us getting caught up in the moment. It meant something."
"No, it didn't! You said it yourself that our almost kiss shouldn't have happened."
"Because that's what you said! I wasn't about to make things more awkward, especially with your shifting moods."
"Then why now say something?"
"Because I don't want to hide it anymore!"
"Hide what?"
"My feelings for you!"
Time stopped. I stared at Jay, mouth open. Our breath fanning in front our faces, both red from the cold. We took a minute just to look at each other. I could see tears in his eyes, matching mine.
After a minute of silence, I spoke up. "Feelings?"
Jay let loose a laugh. "I've liked since forever, Scarlet. Anytime I needed help, I chose to go to you. Even when I knew other people could answer my questions, I wanted it to be you. Not because I knew you'd get them right, but because it meant I could talk to you. When I found out we'd be stuck together for like two or three days, I was happy it was you. Out of everyone I could've been trapped with, I was so happy it was you and no one else. When you said that Ivan cheated on you, I was ready to go to him and punch his stupid face because he hurt you. And I was so mad when that timer went off because in that moment I wanted nothing more than to kiss you."
I was shocked. "Why didn't you say anything sooner you ass?"
Jay laughed aloud making me smile. "I was scared. Confessing your feelings to a girl you really like isn't exactly easy. Especially when you don't know what your answer if gonna be."
"So what? You decided to torture yourself while I ran over and over in my head if you like me back?"
Jay was about to say something but paused. "'Back'?"
"I like you too dumbass. I started liking you in seventh grade"
"But I thought you got over it."
"Yeah well it turns out that when you spend time with your grade school crush for like two days, those feelings come flooding back."
Jay was grinning at me and took steps toward me. "I'm gonna do something. And this time I won't let it be interrupted you aren't going to run away from me. It won't be a 'caught up in the moment' situation and it won't mean nothing. Okay?"
"Okay."
And then he kissed me. His arms coming around my waist, pulling me close while my hands snaked into his hair, bringing his head closer to mine. His lips were soft against mine and moved firm yet gentle. I could feel my breathing go rough and my chest heaving while the kiss got more and more heated, despite the freezing cold weather. I didn't care that my fingers were ready to freeze off or that my legs had goosebumps running all over them. All I could focus on were Jay's lips on mine and his hands holding me close.
When Jay pulled away, we were both out of breath and our faces flushed from the cold and the kiss. Jay stared down at me, admiration in his eyes. I brought my hands down to rest on his chest, and leaned into him. Jay's arms came around me, holding me close in a hug. I sighed against him and looked up in his eyes.
"Have I told you how much I liked your eyes?" He asked.
I smiled and shook my head. "I don't think so."
"In that case, I love your eyes." And his lips were back on mine.

Yay another (very short) chapter! I am just flying through. This is so fun. Like three real chapters left and then I'm done. Like holy shit that feels weird.
Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about this chapter. Like it is good but it could be better but I'm struggling to make it better. Oh well, just tell me what y'all think in the comments!
