A year later
" Hey Sord what's up?" My mom asks
I look up from my phone. " I'm playing a game," I say, lying
" You know I know when your lying, what are you really doing?" she asks
I hand over my phone so she can see. " Oscar," She says just staring at the phone
" I was looking through our old photos, just to remember,"
" Honey, they will find him, but Oscar wouldn't want you to be sad, especially not before your birthday," she says tapping my nose
" I just can't help but missing him sometimes I guess," I say smiling
Thinking about his touch. The way his skin was just so perfect. The way my hands fell perfectly into his waist. I miss him. My mom then puts her hands around my face.
" On June 10th my firstborn son came into this world, how has he grown into such a kind, passionate, and loving man?" She says, starting to tear up
" I'm not really sure I guess this place changed our family,"
" Well no more moping, why don't you go for a walk to clear your head, dinner will be ready in half an hour, it's taco night!" She says getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen
I stand up and grab my phone and Air pods. " Mom i'm going for that walk, alright," I yell to her in the kitchen
" Alright be back for dinner," She responds
I walk over to the door and walk out. I start my walk over to the park and sit down at a bench. I put my Air pods in and start listening to the playlist that Oscar and I made. I close my eyes and just listen. After a few songs I feel someone poke my shoulder. I open my eyes and look at who it is. It's Penny Davis. That girl who had a crush on me. " Hey what's up Sordo?" She asks smiling
" Oh hey Penny, i'm good," I respond
" I just saw you sitting here alone and thought you could use some company,"
" Oh well thanks," I say putting my Air pods away
" Well how has your summer been so far?"
" My summer has been ok I guess, how about yours?"
" My family and I went up to Gooseberry falls up in Minnesota for a short vacation,"
" That's cool,"
We just start talking and lose track of time. Its like talking to an old friend. After maybe an hour or so we just awkwardly sit in silence. " Hey are you still in love with that boy?" Penny asks
" Umm yes, why?" I ask
" I can help you get over him," She says seductively bringing her hand onto my thigh
" Ew get off me ,"
" What I thought -"
" Listen whatever you were thinking it's wrong, I still love Oscar,"
" You played with my feelings and now your blaming me!"
" No, you assumed because we were having a nice chat I liked you, I'm leaving," I say standing up and walking away.
What a brat. I can't believe she tried hitting on me. I'm back to my house now. I walk in and look at the clock. I'm a half hour late. My mom walks into the entrance way while I take off my shoes.
" What did I say, be home in a half an hour what did you do? Show up late!" She yells
" I'm really sorry mom, I was talking with someone," I apologize
" Well i'm glad you're talking to people but if your gonna be late text me alright, i'll warm up your dinner,"
" Thank you,"
I hope I never run into that bitch Penny again.
