"Where's Rafe?" I walked into Wheezie's room the girls head stuck in a book, her glasses slowly falling down her face.
"Sorry what?" The girl looked up pushing her glasses back up her face, her hand securely stuck in the book to keep her page.
"Rafe, you know our brother" I had searched the whole house and had no look finding him. I had even tried calling him and he had not answered, which wasn't that much of a surprise. Rafe was my twin brother but we weren't close, I was closer to our younger sibling Sarah. Rafe also liked to claim I was his younger sister, which was true but only by three minutes. He would introduce me to everyone as his younger sister, this would make most people not want to talk to me. Rafe wasn't known for being the nicest. Sometimes I wish Rafe treated me like Sarah, like I didn't exist, he could be too overbearing.
"Oh he mentioned something about going to someone's house called Barry" Wheezie pulled me out of my thoughts. The sound of his name sent butterflies throughout my stomach. My heart skipping a beat. Barry wasn't the best person but I couldn't help who I had a crush on. I first met Barry a few months ago.A few months ago...
"Be carful, the..." before I could finish my sentence the vase was smashed on the floor. I placed my glass down on the side as I walked over to the two drunk teens that were just staring down at the broken vase, Rose's favourites vase. "Just move" I started to shove the teens away from the broken vase, they just looked at me before shrugging and walking away. I let out a sigh before crouching down and started to pick up the shattered pieces of glass, I couldn't leave it broken on the floor with a bunch of drunk people around. I should really make Rafe clean it up, this stupid party was his idea, he was the one that invited everyone, his the reason it was getting out of hand. I kept picking the pieces up as I cursed Rafe in my head. A few more pieces to go when someone stepped into the pile of broken vase. "Do you mind" I looked up my eyes meeting with a pair of deep brown eyes, a confused look on his face when he looked down at me, a piece of falling forward, the rest of his hair tied up in a bun.
"Shit sorry" The boy lifted his foot from the pile taking a step back. I rolled my eyes looking down at the pile of vase. I picked another piece up as I felt someone crouch down next to me, I turned to see the boy starting to pick up pieces of the vase up. I looked at him confused, he didn't cause this and he certainly didn't need to clean it up, most people would or did just walk past me cleaning it up. The boy kept picking up peices.
"Just be careful" As I spoke the boy picked up a piece causing him to have a small cut on his hand.
"Fuck!" I expected him to drop the piece he had picked up as well as the other peices but instead he just took a sharp breath and looked down at the peices. I held the peices in my hand freeing my other one up, I reached out pulling his hand closer to me examine the small cut. It wasn't too bad but it would need cleaning to make sure their wasn't any vase pieces in the cut. I looked at where the broken glass had been, only two more pieces left. I quickly picked the remaining pieces of glass up before standing up.
"Follow me and we'll get that cleaned up" I signalled for the boy to follow me. The boy stood up holding the pieces of the vase in his hand. I slowly moved passed people and started to make my way up the stairs, the boy stopped at the bottom staring up at me. "Come on" I again signalled for the boy to follow me. The boy was hesitant but followed behind me. I walked passed the other rooms till I reached mine. I pushed my door open walking in, the boy followed behind. I placed the peices of broken vase in my bin. "Just throw the peices in there, there's no point keeping them" I kicked the bin as I spoke.
"Could always try and stick it back together, it seems like it was expensive" The boy dropped the peices in the bin.
"Honestly it probably was" Knowing Rose and her taste it defiantly was expensive and came out of my dad's pocket. "Let's take a look at that hand" I again signalled for the boy to follow me. I walked opening the door to my bathroom. I turned to tap on opening the draw, I pulled my tweezers out and a band-aid the only thing I really had to cover the cut. "Let me have a look" I held my hand out waiting for his. The boy lifted his hand, it was warm in mine. I looked closely at his hand, I grabbed the a cloth wetting it under the tap and slowly clearing the area around the cut. I slowly pulled his hand closer to me examining the cut to make sure that there was no pieces of the vase in his hand. I couldn't spot any, I looked from the cut up at the boy who was staring down at me, our eyes met and I quickly looked back down at the cut. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. The more I spent time with him the more I was able to realise how handsome he was. I forced my self to let go of his hand as I grabbed the band aid and started to place it over the small cut on the palm of his hand.
"So you must know the Camerons well" The boy spoke, I looked up from the band aid and up at him.
"You could say that" I had never met someone who didn't know who I was, I know that may sound conceited but it really wasn't, everyone just knew me from my dad or from being Rafe's younger sibling.
"Are you like Rafe's girlfriend or something" The boy pulled his hand away.
"God no" I pulled a face shaking my head. "I'm no one's girlfriend" I dropped quickly after. "What about you? How do you know Rafe?" I leant back against the counter, I turned the tap off as I waited for the boy to answer.
"It's a long story" I just nodded my head, most people said the same thing, nothing was a simple story when it came to Rafe.
"A good or bad story?" I asked intrigued by what he had to say. Plus it kept the conversation going which meant I spent more time with the handsome stranger.
"Depends on who your asking" He just shrugged intriguing me even more, I wanted to ask more question but was interrupted.
"What's going on?" The two of us turned to look over at my bathroom door, there stood my brother Rafe he stood glaring from me to the stranger.
"None of your business" I spoke first crossing my arms.
"Yeah it is" Rafe took a few steps into the bathroom turning to the stranger. "Barry what are you doing in my little sisters room?" I looked from Rafe to the stranger who was now called Barry.
"Your little sister?" Barry looked from me to Rafe then back putting the pieces together.
"Well actually-" "Yeah my little sister" Rafe interrupted me, I let out a frustrated huff glaring at the blonde for not letting me speak. Barry just nodded.
"I came looking for you" Barry turned from me to face my brother.
"And how did that end up with you in my sisters room?" Rafe questioned it was obvious he was growing more and more pissed.
"Some teens knocked over Rose's favourite vase and he helped me pick the pieces up, he ended up cutting his palm with the pieces so I just helped him clean it" I answered for him, Rafe was starting to piss me off. Who did he think he was, I was an adult I could bring whoever I wanted to my room, it didn't matter the reason why. Rafe seemed to somewhat relax but still held the glare.
"If you want to talk then follow me" Rafe said looking at Barry, his eyes then moved passed him to me. "We'll talk later" I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him. "Come on" Rafe turned leaving the bathroom. Barry started to walk away out of the bathroom stopping at the door, he stopped looking over his shoulder.
"I'll see you around" I just nodded cursing Rafe in my brain as I always seemed to do. I watched as Barry made his way out the bathroom and then out of my room.Since my first meeting with Barry I had only seen him a few times most times Rafe had been around so we didn't get to speak long. A few weeks ago I had got Barry's number after I spent a whole day looking for Rafe only to find out he was crashed at Barry's.
"Okay Wheez" I pulled my phone out and made my way out of my younger siblings room. I shut her bedroom door before scrolling through my contacts and finding Barry's number. The phone rang for a few seconds before it was answered.
"Hey y/n" Barry answered the phone and I couldn't help but smile at the sound of his voice.
"Barry" I responded almost instantly. A small silence falling over the two of us.
"So what can I help you with?" Barry broke the silence with his question.
"Uhhh yeah, is Rafe there?" I asked walking slowly away from Wheezie's bedroom door. Barry went quiet. "Barry..."
"Yeah he's here, he's, he's passed out" I wasn't that surprised he most likely went to Barry to get drugs from him.
"I'm on my way" I sighed ending the phone call not giving the boy a chance to argue about going over there.I pulled up to Barry's house, it looked as it usually did. I climbed out of my car making sure to lock it before walking over to Barry house and knocking on the door. The door was pulled open by the brunnett, a small smile on his face.
"Hey" He greeted stepping back allowing me into his house.
"Hi" I smiled stepping inside, it didn't take me long to spot my brother, there he was crashed on the shove, his head shoved into a pillow. "How long has he been like this?" I questioned as I walked more into his house.
" I don't know, he came here like this" I just nodded as I watched my brother move on the sofa. "I promise I didn't give him anything" I looked over at Barry with a smile.
"I swear, he better wake up" I made my way over to Rafe nudging him. "Rafe" I nudged him again but go nothing in response. "Wake up" I nudged him harsher this time getting a moan, he turned his back now towards me.
"You can leave him here, I don't have a problem with him crashing" Barry walked closer to the pair of us.
"Yes you do and honestly I don't blame you" I turned to look at Barry. "Anyway he needs to get up he has to come home"
"How come?" Barry was intrigued looking at me and then to Barry.
"We have a family dinner at some restaurant some extended family is coming, I need Rafe to come for moral support" As much as I loved my family at times they could be much especially with being one of the oldest. Most my family didn't expect much from Rafe anymore so it was all put on me. With Rafe there it took some of the perssure off.
"I'm not coming" Rafe mumbled breaking mine and Barry's conversation. I turned to the blonde who was still lying on the sofa with his back to me.
"Yes you are" I snapped looking at the blonde.
"Why they don't care if I'm there or not" He let out a yawn as he spoke breaking up his speaking.
"I care and your coming" I crossed my arms, Barry stood to the side watching the pair of us.
"No, I'm not" Rafe was more determined as he spoke.
"Please Rafe" He just shook his head as he got more comfortable on the sofa. "God your such an asshole" I took one look at my brother before turning and walking out of the house."y/n" Barry called out as I walked out shutting the front door. "Y/n!" Barry called out as I reached my car. He reached out for my hand stopping me from my climbing into my car.
"Can you make sure his okay" I responded as I opened my door.
"You okay?" He questioned stopping me from getting into the car.
"He's just an asshole" I let out a breath shaking my head. "I mean he knows we do this family dinner every year, he knows how much pressure it is and I can do with out him being an asshole" Barry stood there listening to me nodding his head.
"How about you just don't go" Barry replied after my rambalings.
"I wish, god, I'd give anything to get out of it" I leant back on my car.
"I mean you are an adult, you can make the decision not to go" He was right but I knew that wouldn't go over well with Rose and my dad.
"If I want to stay living at home I need to go" I spoke what I thought, I did most times when I was around Barry. I don't know what it was about him.
"I doubt you'd get kicked out, from what Rafe told me your dad adores you, like most people" I looked at Barry with a smile.
"Did you speak to Rafe about me?" I asked looking at the brunette. He didn't say anything, a small blush crawled across his face.
"Is it a big deal if I did?" I shrugged after Barry spoke. A few seconds of silence.
"I should really get going, I have to break the news to my dad and Rose" Barry nodded his head as I started to climb into my car.
"Let me know how it goes" Barry leant against the car.
"Oh I can message you about things other then Rafe?" I smirked looking at Barry, he looked away just nodding his head.
"Just don't tell your brother" He turned back face me a smirk on his face.
"I wouldn't dream of it"•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
