I let out a sigh as I picked up another can that had been left on the counter, sad part is I wasn't sure if it was from my dad or JJ. I knew the Pogues had been here the other night but I was never allowed to hang with them. According to JJ, I was too young, I was a kid even though there was less than a year between JJ and me. When I had tried to hang with them it would always cause arguments between JJ and I, I already had enough of them with my dad. I stopped trying to hang with them. I kept to myself. It helped I guess, I didn't have many friends, it made me tougher. I emptied what remained in the can down the sink before throwing it away. I continued to clean the rest of the house. I threw the last can away and started to pull the bin bag out to take it outside. I opened the back door and made my way out. I lifted the lid throwing the bag inside. I shut the lid as I did the sound of my brother's voice broke the silence.
"This should clear John B, right? Rafe Cameron won't be able to do anything then " I couldn't see who he was talking to but if I had to guess it was Kie or Pope. "Then we need to make sure it's kept safe" I heard the back door open and quickly shut. I waited a few seconds before following JJ inside. Inside there was Kie, Pope and JJ. JJ knelt with his back towards me, he pulled the small rug we had back over before standing up and turning. JJ's eyes widened taking a step backwards. "y/n what are you doing sneaking around"
"I wasn't" I crossed my arms resisting the urge to roll my eyes at him. "What were you doing?" I looked from JJ to Kie and Pope the two shared a look.
"That's none of your business" JJ replied started to walk passed me, Kie and Pope right behind him.
"You said it had something to do with John B, clearing him" I inquired taking a small step forward. JJ stopped his hand reached out to the back door. He turned to look at me taking a step forward.
"Y/n how many times have I told you to stay out of things that don't concern you" JJ looked down at me. I narrowed my eyes at my brother who turned, again Kie and Pope followed him. I couldn't believe him. I clenched my jaw before unclenching it.  It was a simple question there was no need to be rude. I took a deep breath trying to calm myself, my face reddening from annoyance and embarrassment. I turned looking down at the rug that JJ had been messing with.

I took a small step towards it before kneeling and moving the rug the same way JJ had revealing the wooden flooring underneath. I stared down at the wood floor, it took a few seconds before I could see what was different. One of the pieces of wood was lifted more than the others. I touched the wood trying to lift it by hand but not having any luck. I let out a sigh looking at the wood. I looked around the room for anything that would help lift the wood piece. Nothing within sight. I stood up and walked to the kitchen and grabbed a dull knife before making my way back to the spot. I slipped the knife into the tiny gap and lifted the wood. Underneath the floor, there was an envelope, I picked the envelope up taking a look inside. Inside was a small number of notes. I placed the envelope to the side looking into the dark hole. There were a few letters, most being report cards JJ had hidden. I picked each one up quickly scanning it before placing it with the envelope. As I picked the last report card up I stopped staring into the hole. At the bottom of the hole was a gun. My breath hitched as I reached for the gun but stopped, I had no idea what this had been used for. I looked from the hole to around the room, it felt as if someone could walk in any minute. That I was going to get in trouble. This had to be what they were talking about. I mean I doubt JJ's report cards were going to clear John B or the small amount of cash he had. Without thinking I stood up and made my way to the kitchen grabbing a shirt from the washing and making my way back to the hole. I held the shirt in my hand and reached into the hole pulling the gun out. I quickly wrapped the gun in the shirt. I placed the report cards back in then the envelope, the gun sat wrapped in the shirt next to me. Every few seconds I found myself checking the door, the windows. I placed the wood flooring back pulling the rug back over as if nothing happened.
