Evelyn's Pov
We all sat around a table at the apple rose grill talking about the funeral. "Why was Jenna there?" Aria asked. "I guess she's back." Spencer mumbled. "That cop acted like we were suspects or something." Hanna whispered. "Do you think we looked guilty?" Emily questioned. "Why would we? We haven't done anything wrong." Said Aria. "Except lie about the Jenna thing." Hanna reminded the girls. "We promised we'd never bring up the Jenna thing again, remember? It never happened. " I said. "Have you found a way to forget? I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night." Aria tells us. "It was an accident." I assure Aria. Hanna gets out her flask and pours some alcohol in her drink. A man on a table near us gave Hanna a strange look. "It's medicinal." Hanna tells the man and gives him a sarcastic smile. The man gives Hannah a sceptical look. "Cramps." Hanna tells the man and he looks away. We turn to look at the man and I laugh at Hannah. "I don't get it. How does "A" know something about me that only Alison knew?" Emily asked. "Ali knew all our secrets, but... We never knew any of hers." Aria said to us. "I knew some." I told them. "Go on." Aria encourages me. "Talk." Hanna says. "I can't." I protest. "Ev! No, you are not gonna drop a bomb like that then just clam up." Aria told me. "She'd so kill me if I told you." I said. "She's dead!" Hanna exclaimed. "Ali was seeing someone that summer." I told them. "Wait what?" Spencer asked. "I knew she was keeping something from me. From us." Emily said. "Well why didn't she want us to know?" Aria asked. "He was an older boy, and he had a girlfriend." I told them. "Who was it." Emily asked. "She never told me his name." I said. "That's only half a secret." Hanna complained. "It's more than you ever got." I say. I knew other secrets of Alisons but they were too big for the girls to know. "How is it that Ali told us nothing and we told her everything?" Aria questions. "Because she made us feel like we were part of something special." Emily tells us. "We were." Hanna says "I miss that" Aria said. "Me too." I agreed. "I miss Ali." Emily said. Emily started fiddling with her bracelet. "I can't believe you still wear that." Hanna said referring to the bracelet. "Ali still wears hers." Emily said, "wore." "When Ali didn't come home that night. I knew something terrible must've happened. But there always was some part of me that imagined that someday she would just show up. " Spencer said with tears in her eyes. "Yeah." Hannah said. "I used to think that maybe she'd just... run off with some guy." Aria said. "She was laying on a beach somewhere." Emily added. "Or getting a tan out by the pool with that hot lifeguard." Hanna joked. "Ohh. Yeah... what was his name?" Aria asked. "Who cares? '𝚜𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚖𝚎!'" Hanna said in a posh, funny accent. We all laughed. Then, the door opened and we heard a tapping sound. We turned where the sound was coming from and it was Jenna with her cane. She sat down at a table and we all stood up to leave. We left and went our separate ways home.

The next day, I was watching Spencer practice field hockey whilst I read my book for my English homework. Emily then walks up with a girl. I'm pretty sure she lives in Ali's old house. Spencer hits the ball perfectly and it goes into the goal. "Nice." Emily says as she walks up behind Spencer. "So I hear you're running for varsity captain. Emily said. "Well, I have a shot, so..." Spencer tells her. "If a Hastings has a shot she takes the shot." Emily said. "Is that a drinking game?" The girl questions. "Yeah it should be." Spencer tells her. "Spencer this is Maya. This is Spencer Hastings and that over there is little Evelyn Hastings." Emily explains. I smile and wave at Maya then she waves back. "Oh. You live across the road." Spencer says. "Yeah. New girl who moved into dead girl's house." Maya said. Spencer looked at Maya confused and I looked up from my book. "I can't believe I just said that." Maya said embarrassed. "Yeah, I can't believe you just said that either." Spencer says to Maya. Maya starts to look uncomfortable. "I think Brad Pitt and I are missing the same sensitivity chip." Maya jokes. "It's fine. We're all trying to find a way to deal with it." Spencer assured her. "Maya and I are going for some caffeine. Do you want to join?" Emily asked Spencer. "Oh, I'd kill for a latte but, um... this is my only time to practice, so..." Spencer replies. "Ev. Do you want to tag along?" Emily asked turning to me. "Um. Sure. I can't stay long though cause I'm behind on homework. I'll get you a latte Spence?" I reply. "Ok come on then. Catch you later Spence." Emily says as we walk to the coffee shop. "She's intense" Maya says. "Tell me about it." I joke. " if you knew their parents you'd understand." Emily told Maya. "Literally. My parents wants me and my sisters to be perfection." I told Maya. We went to grab coffee and Maya is actually really nice. I said goodbye to Emily and Maya after we had coffee. I got Spencer her latte then went home.
