The bell rang as the referee lifted my right arm

The bell rang as the referee lifted my right arm. "We have a winner! Say hello to your new lightweight boxing champion!" He released my hand. "Next in the ring Stanley Pines and Ralph Sempton for heavyweight champion."

As I left the ring with a bright smile, Stan caught me, hitting me twice lightly in the shoulder. "Mozel tov, man!"

"Thanks, man," I said, hitting my glove against his. "We're both comin' outta today with first place metals."

"You got that right," Stan said. "Get some ice on that eye."

"Good luck, brother," I said before leaving and pulling off my gloves. It didn't take long before I met with Ford and his father. "Hey." I threw my gloves over my shoulder.

"Good job out there, son," Mr. Pines said, his eyes still trained on Stanley as his match began.

"Let's get you some ice, champ," Ford said with a smile. He led the way to the ice room. I closed the door behind us, turning the deadbolt quietly. He grabbed me a bag of ice from the machine. "He-"

I cut him off by pressing my lips to his.

Ford pulled away, his hands on my shoulders. "This is too public..."

"I locked the door." I wrapped my arms around his waist. "Is that good enough?" I heard the ice bag hit the floor as Ford's arms wrapped around my shoulders and his lips pressed to mine.

I lifted Ford and pressed him against the wall, his legs wrapped instinctively around my waist. He hummed against my mouth as I used my tongue to ask for permission to deepen the kiss. His lips parted, allowing my tonge to slip into his mouth to explore.

I pulled away, a trail of saliva connected our mouths. Ford wiped his mouth with a smile. "Now that was a champion's kiss."

"I may be a champion," I smiled, starting to feel my bruises through the adrenaline, "but you make me a king." I kissed the side of his neck, peppering kisses until I reached his mouth again. I pressed on, exploring deep into his mouth. I pulled away at the sound of a knock. "Shit..." I mumbled. I set Ford down, wiping saliva from my mouth.

Ford caressed my face with a smile. "Calm down there, king of the world. It's probably Stan..." Ford leaned over the machine to scoop another bag of ice for my arm.

Unlocking the door, I quickly grabbed the dropped bag and laid on the bench with the ice on my face, covering and cooling my blushing face. "Just come in, man!" I called. "It's not like it's locked!"

Ralph pushed the door open. "Musta gotten stuck."

Ford handed me another pack. "Here ya are, James."

"Thanks, Ford," I said placing it on my side. "One more."

Ralph joined Ford at the ice maker. "Hey, nerd. Your brother-"

"Leave him alone, Sempton," I growled.

"Or what, crooked nancy?" He snapped back. "You gonna defend-"

"Just get your ice and leave us alone, Ralph," I growled again, putting the third ice pack on my arm.

"Whatever, faggot."

Within seconds my ice was on the floor and my bare knuckles made contact with his face. Ralph crumpled to the ground as I flexed my now sore hand. "I said shut up, dumb ass."

Ralph spit out a tooth. "Fuck you, fairy."

I knelt down. "Could a fairy do this?" I punched him again and out went his lights. "If this asshole is here then Stan won. Let's go congratulate him."

Ford had gathered my ice packs. "Ralph's a total shmendrik." He handed me a pack for my eye right away. "Why'd he just come in and start insulting you?"

"My voice, I think," I said. "It's still higher so that's the reason that some people assume I'm gay. I mean really, just because your right doesn't make you right. Could be cooking though since this fuck is the very reason I started boxing." I set the ice to my face. "But if I have to, I'll teach the whole school not to insult me," I kissed his cheek quickly, "or you."

"Let's go congratulate Stan," Ford smiled, carrying my 2 other ice packs.

"Yeah." I pushed the door open, holding my ice to my face. "Pa seemed pretty proud to see Stan hit the final round."

"Pa's not easily impressed," Ford said, following me out the door. "Sorry your Pop couldn't be here, man."

"Doctors appointments can be hard to reschedule," I shrugged. "He promised to see me get gold next year. Which reminds me, I'll need to pick up my metal before we head out."

"Of course," Ford said. The two of us found the Pines family in the quickly emptying seats around the ring.

Mr. Pines actually had a smile on his face, something I'd never seen from the man before.

Mrs. Pines touched my face. "There you are, my mishpocheh." She hugged both me and Stan with a smile. "Look at my boys! Winners! Both of ya!" She released us, looking proud.

Stanley smiled, holding up his metal. "Double gold, brother."

"Here," I chuckled, handing him one of the ice packs Ford was holding and putting the other on my arm.

"Mozel tov, boys," Pa said with his arms crossed before he turned to leave. "Be in the car in ten minutes." Ma followed him out.

Stan and I both sat back with sighs, holding our ice packs to our faces.

"You guys were amazing out there," Ford said, sitting beside me.

"Great job, Stanley," said a familiar voice. Shermie was smiling, his girlfriend looking out of place with her bright blonde hair. "You too, James. I didn't see it but Pa told me you were great out there."

"Thanks, Shermie," I said with a slightly painful smile. My bruises we're not going to be gone by school on Monday.

"Guys, this is my girlfriend Amanda," Shermie said. "Amanda, these are my twin brothers, Stanley and Stanford, and their best friend, James Porter. Although, these 3 may as well be triplets with how often they're together," he laughed.

Amanda chuckled. "It's nice to meet you boys."

"Hey, James," Ford said suddenly. "We gotta pick up your metal or we'll be walking home."

"Yeah," I said sitting up, "I don't think I could walk that far." I stood up, sore. "It was good to meet you, Amanda, and great to see you again, Shermie. See ya around."

"I'll be throwing a party for you boys next week so heal up, kid," Shermie said with a smile. "The whole family is going to come congratulate you boys."

I chuckled. "Thanks for the heads up, Sherm. I'll see you then."
