"Okay," I took a deep breath as I slung my bag across my back, taking final checks on the bar. "Don't forget to lock the doors at closing. If you don't feel safe walking home, you can stay in my apartment. Manly Dan is-"

"Manly Dan" Jen interrupted, "is the bouncer tonight and tomorrow night and should only be given virgin drinks if he requests anything. I'll take stock before the night is over and place the orders tomorrow. You'll be back on Sunday night." She grabbed my hands comfortingly. "We've been over this ten million times, Mr. Porter."

"I'm just making sure." I smiled. "This is the first time I've let someone keep the bar open while I was gone."

"I won't let anything happen to your bar. You're like family to me," Jen smiled releasing my hand. "Like a gay uncle... That's it!" She laughed. "My gay Uncle James!"

I chuckled. "That nickname might just grow on me..." I secured the new lock on my door.

The doorbell jingled and Jen said, "Sorry. We're not- oh, Mr. Pines. What can I get you?"

"Nothing," Ford said. "I'm just here to see King."

I set the key on the counter and kissed Ford. "What's up, Sixer? I've gotta go soon."

Jen raised an eyebrow as she slipped the key into her breast pocket. "Aren't you and Mr. Pines going on the trip together?"

"Jen, this is Ford, Stan's brother and my boyfriend. Ford, this is Jen, my short order cook and manager. She's also learning to bar tend."

"Oh! Aw!" Jen put her hands on her cheeks. "You're the most adorable gay uncle I've ever had... actually I don't have any Uncles..."

"Gay uncle?" Ford asked. "Is that a new slang term for something?"
