The water below glimmered, causing the girl to sigh and look up at the shining moon again. It's glowing light comforting to her cold skin, as if bringing warmth.
She takes in a soft breath, as she felt she was standing on the edge of a prison, as if she'd finally be freed. Free from her swallowing thoughts, free from the weighing nightmares and free from all the horrors of past.
She should've been nervous, but she wasn't. Standing on the edge of a bridge, the water below was so deep, and she couldn't swim.
So if she had any contemplation after jumping, she couldn't save herself anyway. It was a good plan for her to escape.
A serene smile took over her beautiful yet weary features, she was smiling at the moon. The beautiful satellite seemed to tell her not to do it, not to jump.
But she wanted to. The urge was too strong and she had no clue how to save herself. She has never been able to save herself, she always survived, mumbling "I'm fine" like a mantra instead.
The night was dark, no sight of anyone around, and the water beneath seemed very comforting. She sighs, clutching on the phone in her hand that suddenly started ringing.
She frowned softly at the contact, shaking her head. Some people were too good to be true, while some were so awful that you'd find it hard to believe if they were even a human?
Emotions. Feelings.
Ji Ahn always found those things pathetic. In her eyes, emotions made humans weak or strong. No in between, if there was an in between, it'd be vulnerability.
That's where she was standing.
On the verge of destroying her own life, her sanity a mess, and her will to live, nowhere to be found. She tossed the phone aside carelessly in some bush, grabbing her face mask.
Call her an idiot, but she was embarrassed despite the feeling of relaxation she'd feel after jumping.
Running away from all her problems? How ashamed was she? She really wanted to drown, hoping no one will find her, and if they did, she hoped they won't see her face.
It was a stupid idea, this whole ordeal was stupid. But she was doing it anyway. Brushing off the rest of her heavy and dark thoughts, she exhaled.
Just a small step, and half of her feet was already on the edge, she peeked down. For some reason, it wasn't frightening, so that scared her. Was she that desperate to get rid of herself?
She closed her eyes as the wind passed by, a small shiver running through her body. She shakes her head, ready to take a step forward.
And she did.......
If it weren't for the hand that latched on her wrist and sprung her back in a warm body, she was safely wrapped in a pair
of arms. Her eyes shoot open at the sudden movement, only to meet with a pair of bright brown eyes, which were darkened and anger glimmering behind them.
" Are you stupid?! What were you thinking?! "
He snapped. His voice was rough, yet edged with something sweet and soft, it was as if he was genuinely a soft-spoken person.
Ji Ahn didn't know what to think, her brain was still a little slow at processing whatever was going on.
" Yah, I'm talking to you! Where is your home?! Were you just going to jump? "
She blinked, gulping. Everything was suddenly too clear. She pushed herself away from the boy, stumbling back and breaking into a sprint, tears forming in her eyes as she ran.
Ignoring the calls of the boy who stopped her.
Who saved her.
And she wasn't aware, that years later, she'd be so grateful for it.
warning:
this book contains mature themes. it includes self-harm, suicide, depression, anxiety and other dark subjects.
if you feel uncomfortable, I suggest you do not read this book.
another matter I'd like to address is that in no way I am associated with BTS or things related to them. this is just a figment of my imagination and behavior of character differs in real life.
thank you.
