Ran sighed for the nth time tonight while impatiently tapping his foot. He thought he's gonna have a good night with his ex, drinking champagne while talking about life and a bonus of getting back together and possibly end up in one bed
But no, because Rindou Haitani, who is grinning across him, had to ruin the moment. Oh how he wishes that his mom never gave birth to this asshole twenty eight years ago.
It turns out Y/N was working with Rindou when he asked her out and she asked Rindou to drop her off. Upon seeing his brother at the entrance of the fancy restaurant he chose, Rindou went down as well and joined the dinner party, oblivious to his brother's intention for doing such.
To add a sprinkle on top, Rindou had the nerve to order the most expensive meal since his brother is paying. He can't say no and further ruin his already destroyed image in front on Y/N. He has to redeem himself, Rindou should just go to sleep with one eye open after this or he might wake up in the afterlife
"Steaks do taste better when someone else pays for it," Rindou said while savoring the meat with a kiddie smile
Y/N chuckled and handed him a tissue, "you look like a kid."
Ran rolled his eyes at the sight, "Y/N, you should try this. It tastes good."
Ran cut off a piece of his meat and extended his arm to offer the girl his fork with meat on it. Out of instinct, Y/N leaned and took a bite from it. Something they'd do back when they were still dating.
"Love, you should try their chicken," Ran called out and extended his arm towards her, "it's good, I promise."
Y/N took a bite and looked up, "oh! They might have marinated it with honey, it tastes nice!"
"It does taste good," Y/N commented with a smile, "I like how the sour blended in with the sweet aftertaste."
Rindou leaned forwards, "let me have some too!"
Ran took his knife and pointed it to Rindou, "here."
"Ran!" Y/N called out, making Rindou smirk
"Just kidding," Ran smiled innocently
This is a normal event for the three of them. Rindou treats Y/N like his big sister who'd shield him from his big brother since she would always take the younger's side. Rindou felt empty ever since Ran and Y/N broke up, he had no one to run to whenever his big brother is acting mean towards him or plot some pranks on his big brother with.
To be fair, every executive of Bonten, including Ran Haitani, felt how dim their life is when she left. At times, Koko would teasingly tell Ran to win the girl back because it feels weird and lonely without her.
"Y/N," Rindou called but both of them looked at him, "I really missed you. The world was so dull without you."
